The much-awaited The Hundred 2026 auction unfolded on March 12. All 8 franchises locked their squad, including the Manchester Super Giants, who made some star signings.

Manchester Super Giants, previously known as Manchester Originals, had earlier retained stars like Jos Buttler, Noor Ahmad and more. With a significant purse amount, MSG didn’t shy away from going big.

While they tried to fetch big players like James Coles, they got beaten by the London Spirit, who went all out to fetch Coles for a record-breaking price of £390K.

As the auction wraps up, let’s first take a look at all the players Manchester Super Giants retained before the process took place.

That’s all the players Manchester retained before The Hundred 2026 auction. Of course, with a significant purse, MSG placed bids on tons of potential players. While they managed to buy some, they also lost out on a lot of good players.

Also, Manchester SG, owned by Indian businessman Sanjiv Goenka, who also owns LSG in the IPL, didn’t place any bids on Pakistan players. The likes of Haris Rauf, Saim Ayub and Shadab Khan remained unsold.

Only Sunrisers Leeds ended up being the franchise with an Indian owner (Kavya Maran) to pick a Pakistan player in Abrar Ahmed. Another Pakistan player Usman Tariq also fetched a bid from Birmingham Phoenix, which is owned by US-based business group.

Regardless, the auction was a success for Manchester SG, and let’s look at all the players they bought in this auction.

Conclusion

The squad assembled by Manchester Super Giants for the The Hundred 2026 reflects a balanced mix of proven international stars and promising domestic talent.

Retaining key figures like Jos Buttler, Heinrich Klaasen, Noor Ahmad, and Liam Dawson ensured that the core of the team remained strong heading into the auction.

The franchise further strengthened its lineup by acquiring impactful players such as Aiden Markram and Josh Tongue, who emerged as the most expensive picks at £200,000 each. Additional signings like Tim Seifert and Gus Atkinson add depth across departments.

Overall, the squad looks well-equipped with explosive batting, quality spin, and a strong pace attack. If the players perform to their potential and be consistent, Manchester Super Giants could emerge as serious contenders in The Hundred 2026.
