The much-awaited clash between India A and Sri Lanka A is underway at the Dambulla Stadium. The high octane game has been marred with an over the top celebration for Ayush Badoni's wicket. It is a crucial game because qualification for the final of the ongoing tri-series involving Afghanistan depends on this match’s outcome.

India and Sri Lanka both have one win in two matches, and the winner of this match will go to the top of the table. Interestingly, it is the 2nd time the two teams have locked horns against each other in this tri-series. They also met in the opening match, where the Tilak Varma-led side handed Sri Lanka A an 8-run win.

Sri Lanka Trigger India A Collapse At Dambulla

Things have not gone India’s way so far, as the Sri Lankan bowlers have been dominating the Indian batters. Notably, at the time of writing this article, India are 146/7 and are in deep trouble with Suryansh Shedge the only batter alive.

The Men in Blue lost wickets at regular intervals. Skipper and vice-captain tried to stitch a partnership, but they too couldn’t convert their good start. Nonetheless, Sri Lanka rejoiced with his performance, but Niroshan Dickwella went a little overboard with his celebration when Ayush Badoni got out.

Notably, Ayush Badoni was the last technical batter and his wicket was of utmost importance for the Sri Lanka team.

Niroshan Dickwella Celebrates Ayush Badoni With A Dance

India star batter Ayush Badoni walked to bat when India A were 91/3. Like the rest, Badoni too struggled to get going and was batting on 15 (34). Spinners are getting a lot of turn at Dambulla, and Badoni failed to read them.

However, on the 4th ball of the 25th over, the right-handed batter fell prey to Wanuja Sahan and produced a slight nick, but Dickwella caught comfortably behind the wicket.

The entire team was happy with the wicket, but Dickwella celebrated with a dance and a laugh, which caught the internet’s attention. Fortunately, that act of mockery didn’t turn into any drama as Ayush Badoni didn’t pay any heed to it and quietly walked back to the pavilion.

Ayush Badoni Having A Series To Forget

The 26-year-old is having a series to forget. Ayush Badoni has only amassed 39 runs in 3 innings. He has averaged just 13.00 and seriously dented his chance to earn a India call-up.

For the unversed, Ayush Badoni was in selectors plan for a senior call-up as the right-handed batter was also named Shreyas Iyer's replacement during India vs New Zealand ODIs.

Badoni sat on the bench for the entire series, but it confirmed selectors' interest in him, which now seems to be missing following a poor IPL season with LSG. Notably, Badoni amassed just 215 runs in 10 innings, averaging 21.50.
