South Africa playing XI Vs New Zealand [Source: AFP]
The stage is set for a riveting semifinal of the T20 World Cup as South Africa will take on New Zealand on March 4 at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The two teams clashed in the group stage, and the Proteas prevailed there in a one-sided battle. Interestingly, the South African team is yet to lose a match in the ongoing tournament.
The South Africans have almost all the basis covered as they look unstoppable at the moment, and will start as the firm favourites for the all-important knockout match. The team has done well in the World Cup, but they could look to make a couple of changes against the Kiwis.
Here is how the Aiden Markram-led side could lineup for their semifinal clash against New Zealand.
South Africa Predicted Playing XI vs New Zealand- T20 World Cup 2026
Openers and top order: Aiden Markram, Quinton de Kock, Ryan Rickelton
South Africa is the only team that has not tinkered with their top three in the tournament, and expect the pattern to continue against the Kiwis as well. In Aiden Markram, de Kock, and Rickelton, the team has three explosive players at the top.
Markram has been one of the leading run-getters in the tournament, while Rickelton has been the chief aggressor for the Proteas. De Kock has blown hot and cold, but expect him to come good against the Black Caps in the semis.

Middle order and all-rounders: Dewald Brevis, David Miller, Tristan Stubbs, Marco Jansen, Corbin Bosch
In Miller, Stubbs, and Dewald Brevis, the Proteas have a power-packed middle-order lineup, with each batter bringing something different to the table. Miller has resurrected his career in the World Cup, while Brevis and Stubbs have been the aggressive duo who have given wings to the South African batting.
Jansen was rested for the match against Zimbabwe, and expect the all-rounder to make a comeback as the Proteas aim to reach back-to-back finals. Corbin Bosch will be the second all-rounder in the team as the Rainbow Nation has a deep batting lineup.
George Linde replaced Jansen in the last match, but he is set to be replaced for the all-important semifinals.
Bowlers: Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi
For the match against Zimbabwe, South Africa also rested Kagiso Rabada, and Keshav Maharaj as the duo of Anrich Nortje and Kwena Maphaka were given the chance to showcase their skills.
While Maphaka did well against the Zimbabwe side, one has to agree that there is no substitute for experience, and the team will surely replace him with Rabada, who has not had the best of World Cups, but his experience will come in handy against the Kiwis.
Nortje has also been in and out of the team, but the team management has trusted Keshav Maharaj to deliver the goods. He has been a clutch player for the team in the T20 World Cup 2026, and will be the X-factor for the side in the middle-overs.
Lungi Ngidi has been a revelation for the South Africans and he has been a wicket-taker for the team in the ongoing event. The Kiwis need to be wary of his bowling as the tall pacer could generate extra bounce from a good length.
