Khushdil Shah Questions Pakistan Selectors [Source: AFP]
Pakistan cricketer Khushdil Shah made an emotional statement on live TV after playing a match-winning knock for Karachi Kings in the 35th fixture of the ongoing PSL 2026 season.
Lahore Qalandars had set a target of 200 runs for Karachi. Despite struggling in the chase, Khushdil’s late heroics did the trick, and the Kings finally snapped out of their losing streak.
Khushdil Shah slams Pakistan selectors
Batting at no. 7, Khushdil Shah slammed 44* off 14 balls, including 2 fours and 5 sixes, to power Karachi Kings to a 5-wicket win. He built a 57-run partnership with David Warner, who also scored 63* off 44 balls.
Meanwhile, after the game, Khushdil spoke to Ramiz Raja in a post-match interview and had an emotional outburst. Shah expressed frustration about being dropped despite strong performances.
However, despite snubs, Khushdil Shah claimed he doesn’t hold any grudge against Pakistan selectors as he minds his own business and doesn’t like to stress about things that are out of his control.
“I'm not on social media, nor do I hold grudges that I was treated unfairly. I scored 700 or 800 runs at number 5 or 6 in domestic cricket, yet I was dropped from the team,” Shah said.
Khushdil Shah is upset because he hasn’t played for Pakistan since September 2025. He feels his performances, especially in middle-order roles, are being overlooked.

Khushdil Shah stunned Shaheen Afridi
Chasing a daunting 200-run target at the Gaddafi Stadium, Karachi Kings looked out of the contest before Khushdil Shah turned the game on its head with a breathtaking 44 off just 14 balls, striking at over 300.
The turning point came when Khushdil took on Shaheen Afridi, smashing three sixes and a four in a single over to swing momentum decisively. That over went for 23 runs, and Afridi let the Qalandars down massively.
Khushdil then finished the game in style with back-to-back sixes off Haris Rauf as Karachi Kings wrapped up the chase in 18.4 overs to get their 4th win of the season.
Not only that, but Khushdil Shah was also rewarded for his heroics as he grabbed the Player of the Match award.
Qalandars earlier posted 199 runs on the board
Earlier, Lahore Qalandars posted a competitive 199/6, powered by half-centuries from Fakhar Zaman (61) and Abdullah Shafique (62).
Their 110-run partnership laid a solid foundation, while late cameos from Daniel Sams and skipper Shaheen Afridi pushed the total close to 200.
However, Karachi’s late onslaught made the total look insufficient. Meanwhile, the win was crucial for Karachi Kings, as it ended their five-match losing streak and kept their playoff hopes alive. They now head into a must-win clash against Quetta Gladiators.
For Lahore Qalandars, the defeat adds pressure as they remain in a tight battle for qualification.
