Throughout the IPL 2026 season, CSK have suffered multiple injuries, and it has affected their IPL campaign. From MS Dhoni to Nathan Ellis, several players have either been injured or have already been ruled out of the tournament.
There is another player who has joined the list of injured CSK players, and it is none other than their keeper-batter, Sanju Samson. He sustained the injury in the IPL 2026 match against the Gujarat Titans, and it came in at the wrong time for the Super Kings.
Sanju Samson suffers finger injury, taken off the field
Samson looked in immense pain as the CSK keeper was hit on his little finger. The incident occurred during the second over of GT’s batting, when Spencer Johnson delivered a short of a length ball down the leg side.
The ball swung late after passing the bat as Samson was deceived by it, and while trying to collect the ball, the CSK keeper was hit on his little finger (left hand). The physio attended to him for a couple of minutes, but Samson looked in discomfort as the keeper-batter decided to walk off the field.
In his place, Urvil Patel is keeping the wickets as CSK management sweats hard on Samson's injury status.
Will Sanju Samson come out to bat vs GT?
Johnson bowled a 144 km/h delivery that hit Samson on his little finger. It was delivered at full throttle, and at such speed, the CSK keeper felt the impact as he immediately asked for a physio.
Judging by Samson’s body language, he wouldn’t have been able to keep wickets for CSK in the ongoing match, but CSK’s batting is still more than one hour away, and the team physio will be monitoring him closely as the franchise needs him in the run-chase.
While keeping becomes tough with a finger injury, batting is still relatively easy, and with enough time left for the CSK batting to commence, there is a chance that the Kerala player could come into bat vs GT.
