In a significant development, experienced cricketer Salman Ali Agha has been reprimanded for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the second ODI between Pakistan and Bangladesh. Salman Ali Agha looked in sublime touch as he hammered a quick-fire 64-run knock off just 62 deliveries.

While the Pakistani T20I captain struck seven boundaries and two sixes, his controversial dismissal grabbed the limelight amid his flamboyant stroke-play. After the game concluded, the ICC found Salman Ali Agha guilty of violating its Code of Conduct and sanctioned the cricketer with one demerit point.

Salman Ali Agha Vs Mehidy Hasan Miraz: What Exactly Happened?

The controversial incident took place during the second ODI between Pakistan and Bangladesh at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka.

Bangladeshi skipper Mehidy Hasan Miraz introduced himself into the attack in a bid to break the partnership between Mohammad Rizwan and Salman. He bowled a good length delivery, as Rizwan pushed it straight back to him.

However, Salman Ali Agha was outside the crease at the non-striker's end and collided with Miraz when the latter tried to collect the ball on his follow-through.

Salman's brain-fade moment led to his dismissal, as Miraz hit the stumps before the former could get back into the crease.

Although Salman Ali Agha felt that Miraz compromised the spirit of cricket, the Bangladesh captain was well within the rules to run him out at the non-striker's end. Therefore, the TV umpire adjudged Salman out, asking him to make his way back to the dressing room.

However, the Pakistan batter wasn't impressed with Mehidy Hasan Miraz, accusing him of foul play. He was absolutely livid with his dismissal and openly expressed his frustration on his way to the dugout.

Salman Ali Agha punished for breaching ICC code of conduct

Apart from arguing with wicketkeeper Litton Das, Salman Ali Agha threw away his gloves before leaving the field. Thus, he was found guilty by the ICC match referee, Neeyamur Rashid, of abusing cricket equipment.

"The specific incident involved abusing cricket equipment on the ground while leaving the field. Regarding Salman Agha, he has no previous history of such behaviour. We have to maintain neutrality when we judge. Consequently, we have issued a reprimand and a demerit point," Neeyamur was quoted as saying by The Daily Star.

“We also considered the law, our training and playing conditions. We discussed the matter with the ICC before making the final decision. From a neutrality standpoint, we delivered the judgement,” he added.

The ICC match referee also stated that the Pakistani batter wouldn't be punished for his heated altercation as it stemmed from a miscommunication.
