Pakistan all-rounder Saim Ayub hasn't been at his best in the T20 World Cup 2026, where he averaged only 14 with the bat from his five outings.

The top-order batter and part-time spinner, though, picked up five wickets in the mega ICC event, but that was not impactful enough since his top-order slot returned scores of only 7, 14, 6, 19, etc.

Saim Ayub's highest score in the World Cup was 24, yet he has now jumped back into form while playing for Karachi Whites in the National T20 Cup 2026.

Saim Ayub’s Inconsistency Troubled Pakistan In T20 World Cup

Honestly, Ayub has been largely inconsistent with the bat across formats. His last big score came against Australia in February, where he scored a 56. Before that, he was limited to scores in the 30s and 20s.

77 was the last mammoth score Ayub managed to put up against South Africa in an ODI match back in November 2025, underlining how inconsistent he has been after his rise in stature as a top-order opener for Pakistan in T20Is and ODIs during late 2024.

Similarly, this inconsistent form has carried into the T20 World Cup, where he now boasts a strike rate of only 137 and has let down the team when they needed him the most, with intent missing out on opportunities.

However, Pakistan's premier domestic league, the National T20 Cup, is now underway and, for Karachi Whites, Saim Ayub has played a brilliant 50-run knock that came from just 28 balls.

Saim Jumps Back Into Form After World Cup Failure

Earlier, Saim opened the domestic league with a 25-ball 33 against the Faisalabad Region, where he scored 33 runs off 25 deliveries. Ayub's 33-ball 53 against the Bahawalpur Region was quite commanding.

Chasing a target of 186, Karachi Whites came in to bat with Abdullah Fazal and Saim opening the innings. While Abdullah Fazal measured his innings with a steady 21-ball 25, Ayub picked up the pace to accumulate quick runs before rain hit the ground and temporarily halted play.

Saim struck seven boundaries and two sixes in the process while taking Mohammad Azab and Daniyal Hussain Rajput to the cleaners. Interestingly, Bahawalpur skipper Muhammad Imran Randhawa also conceded 14 runs from his two overs during his spell in the National T20 Cup match.

While Saim Ayub's return to form cannot be completely ruled out due to the pressure of the T20 World Cup, it is evident that he has been scoring heavily against junior players, while he struggled on the global stage.

Ayub To Pack Form In National T20 Cup

Interestingly, Pakistan haven't included Ayub in the Bangladesh ODI series squad, which is currently being led by Shaheen Afridi and is set to start from March 11.

To speak of his bowling abilities, though, Saim shone, picking up two wickets from his four overs but proving expensive by conceding 43 runs in the process.

Meanwhile, Bahawalpur's star batter Haider Ali disappointed with just a seven-run outing, while Mohammad Faizan Zafar, Mohammad Akram, and skipper Randhawa carried the responsibility of the innings to post a big total of 185 on the board.

Nevertheless, with Saim Ayub currently out of the national selectors' plans, it looks like he will continue dominating the domestic National T20 Cup for now.
