The Indian team players are going to make a special move for the very first time in the T20I series opener against Ireland. Led by Shreyas Iyer, India will kickstart their Ireland tour with a high-voltage face-off against the home side at the Civil Service Club ground in Belfast.

India's tour of Ireland comprises two T20I matches, and both these encounters will be played in Belfast. The series, which could witness Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's grand debut for the Indian team, will see the Indian players donning a special jersey for the very first time in the T20I format.

India players to wear jersey with three stars for first time in T20Is

The jersey of the Indian cricket team will feature three stars from the T20I series against Ireland onwards. Thus, the Indian cricketers will wear a blue T20I jersey with three stars for the very first time when they take on the Irish in Belfast.

The stars have been printed on the left side of the front of the Indian jersey and are placed right above the BCCI logo. Prior to the T20I series against Ireland, the Indian players had never worn a T20I jersey with three stars.

Why has India T20I jersey three stars for Ireland series?

It's worth noting that the stars above the BCCI logo represent the number of ICC T20 World Cups won by the Indian team.

Recently, India became the first-ever team to clinch three T20 World Cups, as they scripted history under Suryakumar Yadav's leadership.

Riding on Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan and Jasprit Bumrah's incredible performances, the Indian team outclassed their opponents and became the first-ever side to defend a T20 World Cup title.

India entered the Super 8 stage on the back of four consecutive victories in the first round of the tournament.

Although South Africa crushed them by 76 runs in their first Super 8 encounter, the hosts bounced back and maintained an unbeaten run for four games to bag the T20 World Cup trophy.

The T20I series against Ireland marks India's first bilateral assignment following their T20 World Cup glory on home soil. While the World Cup win increased the number of stars on India's T20I jersey, this is the first time the Indian players will wear it in an international fixture.

Rain threat looms as star-studded India gear up for Ireland challenge

The first T20I between India and Ireland will be played at the Civil Service Cricket Club ground in Belfast.

While the tourists could hand Vaibhav Sooryavanshi his debut T20I cap, the visitors will heavily rely on the experienced trio of Lorcan Tucker, Gareth Delany and George Dockrell to give the Indians a run for their money.

However, the historic clash, where the Indian players will wear the jersey with three stars, might be interrupted by inclement weather.

According to AccuWeather, the chances of precipitation are as high as 65 per cent in Belfast on Friday afternoon. Therefore, it won't be surprising if rain plays spoilsport in the first T20I between India and Ireland.
