Rohit Sharma imparts his wisdom from the dugout [Source: screengrab]
Rohit Sharma is yet to attain full recovery from the hamstring injury he sustained against the RCB last month. Having missed four straight games this IPL 2026 season for the Mumbai Indians franchise since then, the legendary opener was also forced to be benched from his team’s all-important away fixture against arch-rivals CSK.
Even though the seasoned cricketer is out of action, he is certainly not out of ideas. Often seen sitting alongside Mumbai Indians coaching staff members on the sidelines, the 39-year-old continues to influence proceedings with sharp tactical inputs, even from the dugout.
On Saturday, May 2, Rohit Sharma was once again seen imparting his wisdom, this time to young Mumbai Indians fast bowler Krish Bhagat amidst the latter’s struggles with the ball.
Rohit Sharma’s tactical touch shines despite injury
Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya employed young fast bowler Krish Bhagat to bowl the fifth over of the CSK innings in match number 44 of the IPL 2026 season. Wayward in his line and length, the speedster was greeted with a six and a boundary by CSK number three Urvil Patel.

Watching all the action from the sidelines, injured Rohit Sharma was seen advising Krish Bhagat to bowl slower deliveries next up. Following Sharma’s advice, Krish Bhagat conceded just two singles and a dot off the next three deliveries to get his struggling over back on track.
As it turned out, Bhagat once again resorted to pace off the final ball, only to be flicked towards deep midwicket for a huge six by Urvil Patel as the speedster leaked 18 runs off his opening over of the game.
Urvil was eventually dismissed by young in-form spinner AM Ghazanfar in the following over as the hosts lost their second wicket inside the powerplay overs.
