BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia has confirmed that former captain Rohit Sharma will continue to play for India. The BCCI official squashed all rumours of Sharma’s retirement, after several reports claimed that the legendary opener will bow out of the game after last month’s ODI series in England.

Smriti Mandhana notches up huge world records in Women’s Asia Cup 2026
Indian Women opener Smriti Mandhana blasted 124 runs off just 64 balls against Hong Kong in match number seven of the 2026 Women’s Asia Cup. The cricketer belted 14 fours and seven sixes in Dubai to tonk her second T20I century.
She also became the leading run-maker and leading century-maker in the history of women’s international cricket in the process, surpassing Mithali Raj and Meg Lanning respectively.
Gautam Gambhir to decide Duleep Trophy fates of Sooryavanshi, Ishan Kishan, Tilak
Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir will reportedly decide if South Zone skipper Tilak Varma and East Zone captain Ishan Kishan and his deputy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will play the impending Duleep Trophy 2026 final match or not.
Since the final is slated to be played between September 6 and September 10, Team India is also set to assemble in Delhi on September 9 to prepare for the T20I series against Afghanistan.
