Suryakumar Yadav pushes away Kuldeep Yadav [Source: X]
After the India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup 2026 game on February 15, a wave of disappointment and an uneasy atmosphere seemed to surround the Indian cricket team. Suryakumar Yadav, the skipper of the Indian team, was seen pushing Kuldeep Yadav while exchanging courtesies.
The Indian dressing room is often known for its lively and relaxed vibe, with Punjabi music and dance, as seen in behind-the-scenes videos on the Board of Control for Cricket in India's official website. However, something uneasy appeared to grip the atmosphere yesterday because of a silly error by Kuldeep Yadav.
Suryakumar Yadav Angrily Pushes Away Kuldeep Yadav
For the unaware, India won the much-anticipated clash at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo by 61 runs after posting 175 on the back of Ishan Kishan's 77 and contributions from Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube.
Pakistan were bundled out for just 114 runs as their top order collapsed like a house of cards. Amid the celebrations, Kuldeep Yadav received a stern talking-to from captain Suryakumar Yadav.
In a video going viral on the internet, Suryakumar was seen shaking hands and exchanging pleasantries normally with teammates until Kuldeep Yadav approached him.
As soon as they exchanged a high-five and handshake, Suryakumar appeared visibly frustrated and irked on seeing Kuldeep. He suddenly pushed the Indian spinner away while seemingly scolding him for something that had upset him deeply. Kuldeep Yadav appeared unchalant as he walked off casually, though disappointment was visible on his face.
Why Did SKY Scold and Push Away Kuldeep?
Earlier, Hardik Pandya had also had a tussle with Kuldeep over a mistake he made during the match.
As Pakistan's chase began, India were dominating the batters, and Hardik Pandya had a chance to end the match sooner if Kuldeep had taken a simple catch of Usman Tariq near the boundary line.
After Hardik Pandya sealed the game by taking Usman Tariq's wicket with a superb delivery, he looked visibly frustrated when Kuldeep Yadav came in to celebrate.
Hardik scolded and appeared to mouth a few words at Kuldeep because, earlier on the second ball of the 18th over, Yadav had dropped a straightforward catch of Shaheen Afridi, allowing the ball to sail over the boundary for six runs.
Pandya had bowled a short-of-a-length delivery on the stumps, and Shaheen’s pull was mistimed, but Kuldeep’s attempt to grab it only helped it clear the ropes. This mistake proved costly and angered both Hardik Pandya and skipper Suryakumar Yadav, who later had a heated discussion with the spinner.
India Dominate Pakistan With Ishan Kishan Power
Nevertheless, the match was a dominant one for the Men in Blue. After Abhishek Sharma’s duck, Ishan Kishan took charge with a 40-ball 77 and accelerated India’s powerplay score. Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma, along with Shivam Dube and Rinku Singh’s late blitz, helped India post an above-par total.
Pakistan’s top order never gained momentum, as Salman Agha, Babar Azam, Sahibzada Farhan, and Saim Ayub fell in quick succession. Only Usman Khan showed some resistance, but it was in vain as Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel took key wickets to derail Pakistan’s chances.
With this win, India qualified for the Super 8 stage, while Pakistan’s fate in the tournament now depends on the Namibia clash on February 18.
