Babar Azam was dismissed for a low score against India [Source: X]The India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup 2026 clash was a nail-biting affair while India were batting first. The match at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo saw the Men in Blue bat first and put up a total of 175 on the board. However, during Pakistan's chase, the man given the responsibility to anchor after the early scare, Babar Azam, left the field with a low score of five runs from seven deliveries. Interestingly, Babar Azam's string of poor scores has continued since the Big Bash League in 2025–26. Even though Babar improved slightly with occasional moderate scores in the Australia series and in the T20 World Cup against the USA, his form has remained consistently low. Adding to his poor run, Babar was dismissed as Axar Patel bowled him with a stunner. How Babar Azam Was Trapped By Axar Patel! Netizens were quick to react to Babar Azam's unfortunate dismissal, as Axar Patel utilised the pressure that was constantly building on Pakistan. On the fifth ball of the 5th over, Axar Patel, the first spinner introduced by India, came in to bowl at 87.5 kph. Axar delivered a slower ball on the off-stump line with a fuller length. However, it was the angle from around the wicket that troubled Babar Azam, who attempted to go across the line for a slog. Unfortunately, Babar Azam missed the line as the slog sweep sneaked past the inside edge and rattled the off and middle stumps, sending the Pakistan star back to the pavilion. Notably, Babar Azam's wicket was crucial for both Pakistan and India. With his dismissal, India gained full control of the match, with Pakistan’s win probability dropping to less than 20%. Fans Troll Babar Azam After India vs PAK Howler As Babar walked back, Pakistan's hopes seemed to fade as well. After losing two wickets inside two overs, Pakistan had relied on teh star batter to anchor the innings with Usman Khan, who had been promoted up the order. However, the failure of the top order amid poor coordination was something netizens could not resist trolling. Let's take a look at how fans and netizens reacted to Babar Azam's dismissal in the India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup 2026 match:Swapnil @mycatoons Even after getting humiliated by Steve Smith in front of cameras Pakistan still picked Babar Azam. Babar Azam is a shambolic batsman and should not play T20 cricket anymore. Abhishek Sharma was out for a duck, with Ishan Kishan holding the innings together with his fiery 40-ball 77. He smashed 10 boundaries and three sixes in the process, while also stitching an 87-run partnership with Tilak Varma. However, Kishan's knock was explosive but relatively short, as Saeem Ayub bowled him in the ninth over to leave India two wickets down for 88 runs. Nevertheless, India collected 52 runs from the powerplay and 84 from the middle overs. Although wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals, the run rate continued to climb steadily. Contributions from Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube, along with Rinku Singh's late blitz, helped India post a total of 175 for seven in their 20 overs. Saim Ayub was the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan, claiming three wickets, while Shaheen Afridi, Salman Ali Agha, and Usman Tariq picked up one wicket each. In the chase, Sahibzada Farhan was dismissed for a duck, with Saim Ayub departing soon after. Salman Ali Agha played a poor shot and was also dismissed early, leaving the responsibility on the middle order to anchor what looked like an increasingly difficult chase after the powerplays.
