West Indies and New Zealand cricket teams will be squaring off in the second ODI of their five-match series early on July 14. The match will be hosted by the Providence Stadium in Guyana and the action is slated to commence from 12:00 AM IST onwards.

Hosts West Indies won the first ODI a couple of days ago at the same venue to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series. Keacy Carty compiled 95 runs off 112 balls, and captain Shai Hope made 87* off 92 balls with four fours and four sixes as West Indies blazed past New Zealand’s 267-run total with seven wickets and seven balls to spare.

Earlier in the game, debutant Vitel Lawes picked up three wickets, and senior paceman Alzarri Joseph snared four as West Indies bowlers bundled out the visitors for just 267.

For New Zealand, another defeat in the impending second ODI would mean that the ‘Black Caps’ will be required to win each of the remaining three fixtures to seal the five-match series.

Earlier this year, the New Zealand cricket team also lost its three-match ODI series in Bangladesh by a 1-2 margin.

As both teams prepare for the mega clash, here are the Providence Stadium pitch report and Guyana weather report for the WI vs NZ 2nd ODI match.

While the overall average run scoring rate at the venue is just 4.68 runs an over, teams have managed to chart some 250-plus totals here off late. A couple of days ago itself, West Indies and New Zealand put up an aggregate of nearly 550 runs by scoring at a rate of nearly 5.50 runs an over.

The ball will be expected to provide some bounce and early movement for the fast bowlers, especially under the morning conditions in Guyana.

Spinners will also be expected to play an important role during the middle and slog overs in the game. Moreover, in the previous first ODI of the series itself, spinners picked up eight of the 13 fallen wickets.

Batters will be required to bide their time, see off the new ball threat in a bid to get adjusted to the pace and bounce of the surface. Once settled, batters can play their free-flowing strokes and can score at a brisk pace.
