Chivanga was handed one demerit point by the ICC for letting out an “audible obscenity” in frustration against teammate Innocent Kaia at one stage of the match.

Bangladesh claims consolation win, Zimbabwe seal series 2-1

Zimbabwe batted first in the dead-rubber third ODI in Harare after Bangladesh won the toss. Wessly Madhevere at number five composed 75 at a near run-a-ball, and Brad Evans scored 50 runs off just 43 balls.

However, with lack of assistance from others, Zimbabwe folded up for just 199 in 48.1 overs. For Bangladesh, Shoriful Islam picked up four wickets in the innings and Taskin Ahmed and Tanvir Islam chipped in with two wickets each.

Chasing 200 runs for a win, Bangladesh openers Tanzid Hasan and Soumya Sarkar conjured 151 runs for the first wicket, with both slapping sizzling half-centuries. Tanzid top-scored in the game with 94 runs from 101 balls as Bangladesh sailed past Zimbabwe’s 199 in just 36 overs.

The ‘Chevrons’, however, still ended up winning the three-match ODI series by a 2-1 margin after winning the first two games
