It was yet another day filled with action and drama in the world of cricket, with plenty of headline-worthy incidents both on and off the cricket field. From strong statements and disciplinary actions to controversies in tournaments and updates from star players, the focus was firmly on cricket.

As the drama in the T20 World Cup continues to unravel, here is a complete rundown of the most important events and talking points that dominated cricket on Friday, February 20.

Shadab Khan reprimanded by PCB

Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan has reportedly received an official warning from the PCB after his pointed remarks about former Pakistan cricketers during the T20 World Cup 2026. Following Pakistan’s win over Namibia, Shadab said the current team achieved what past legends could not by beating India in a World Cup.

The comments triggered backlash, prompting the board to step in. Team manager Naveed Cheema conveyed the message, reminding Shadab to show respect, including toward his father-in-law, Saqlain Mushtaq. The PCB has made it clear that further controversial statements could lead to stricter action.

Betting racket busted

A large betting racket associated with the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 has been busted in Rourkela, Odisha. Six individuals were arrested, and more than Rs 30 lakh in cash, along with a Thar vehicle, was seized.

The illegal operation reportedly gained momentum during the India vs Pakistan clash. Authorities suspect a wider network with possible links to Delhi and Mumbai, both key venues in the ongoing tournament.

Michael Vaughan hits at The Hundred’s Pakistan ban

The Hundred 2026 sparked a fresh controversy as reports suggest India-owned franchises may avoid signing Pakistani players. With four teams now controlled by IPL owners, concerns have emerged that strained India-Pakistan relations could spill into the English tournament.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan criticised the idea, urging the ECB to step in and protect the league’s inclusive values. He stressed that cricket in England should remain open to all, warning against allowing political tensions to influence franchise decisions.

Andrew McDonald takes a harsh stand against Australia

Australia’s disappointing T20 World Cup 2026 campaign has ended in a shock group-stage exit, and head coach Andrew McDonald has placed responsibility squarely on the players.  Despite injury setbacks to key pacers like Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood, McDonald rejected claims that Australia did not take the tournament seriously.

He admitted the performances were below standard and said the team must “own” the failure. Losses to Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe sealed their fate, leaving only a consolation match against Oman.

Rahul Chahar divorced at 26

India leg-spinner Rahul Chahar has announced his separation from wife Ishani Johar through an emotional Instagram post. The 26-year-old revealed that their marriage has officially ended after completing legal formalities over the past fifteen months.

Reflecting on marrying young, Chahar described the period as one of personal growth and hard lessons. He said that he is now moving ahead with his head held high and a sense of peace instead of bitterness as he starts a new chapter in his life.
