In a significant development, India have dealt a massive blow as their star seamer Mohammed Siraj was struck by a Hardik Pandya shot in the nets. Notably, the Men in Blue are sweating hard at the Narendra Modi Stadium for their Super 8 fixture, which is when the incident occurred.

India are all set to face South Africa on February 22 and hit the ground for a night training on Friday. However, a shot from Hardik's bat hit Siraj on the knee, following which he was down with pain. The physios rushed to check on the seamer, who himself entered the tournament as Harshit Rana's replacement, who too had knee injury.

Mohammed Siraj Continues Training But In Pain

After the hit, the entire management and Hardik Pandya rushed to check on Siraj, who laid on the ground holding his knee. However, the magic spray did wonders and the right-arm seamer resumed training, which came as a sigh of relief for the India fans.

Siraj also resumed bowling but was seen limping. However, the blow is not as serious as assumed earlier. Also, the 31-year-old is expected to be full fit to be available for selection against South Africa on February 22.

Siraj Not In Scheme Of Things For India

For the unversed, Siraj was not in scheme of things for India in the shortest format of the game. However, Harshit Rana was ruled out of the tournament following a knee injury right before the opening game of the tournament.

Siraj, who was planning to leave for vacation, received a call-up and joined the India camp in no time. The right-arm seamer featured in the first match against USA in Jasprit Bumrah's absence and bowled really bowled really well. Miyan registered the figures of 3/29 in his four overs.

Since then Mohammed Siraj has not featured in a solitary game and is just warming the bench. Nonetheless, Siraj's presence is of utmost importance, because he is an X-factor for the team.

India And Tryst With Injuries

In the past few months, several India players have struggled with injuries. Firstly, Tilak Varma faced a race against time as he was ruled out of New Zealand series because of testicular injury. He returned to the team right before the T20 World Cup.

Besides Tilak, Washington Sundar too missed out on the first few group-stage games because of his rib injury. The right-arm all-rounder featured in his first game in India's last group-stage game against Netherlands.

Other than them, Ishan Kishan too had a similar injury threat in the nets ahead of Pakistan game, where he was hit on the toe by a Jasprit Bumrah yorker. Similar to Siraj, the physios attended him and the southpaw was declared fit to take part against Men in Green, where he won the player of the match for his performance and fifty-plus knock.
