PCB To Reject NOCs For Pakistan Players In Afghanistan Premier League -Report (Source: AFP)
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is unlikely to issue NOCs to Pakistan cricketers who wish to participate in the upcoming Afghanistan Premier League (APL) and other overseas franchise tournaments.
It is worth noting that more than 30 Pakistan players have registered for the APL draft, but their participation could be hampered by the PCB's decision.
The report that players might not be provided with NoCs comes amid diplomatic tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Several well-known Pakistan players, including Fakhar Zaman, Saim Ayub, Shan Masood, Abdullah Shafique and Imad Wasim, are among the players listed in the APL draft register.
PCB Likely To Deny NoCs To Pakistan Players
According to a report by Cricbuzz, the PCB has reportedly rejected NOC requests for Pakistan players to participate in the APL. The decision is believed to be linked to the ongoing diplomatic tensions between the two countries.
A PCB spokesperson also indicated that the board is unlikely to allow its players to take part in the tournament. When asked about the possibility of NOCs being issued, the spokesperson told Cricbuzz, "I don’t think so."
It is important to note that the Afghanistan Cricket Board, in its published auction register, has also mentioned that the availability of Pakistani players will depend on receiving NOCs from the PCB.
The APL will feature five teams, with each team allowed to have a maximum squad of 18 players. For the upcoming edition of the much-awaited tournament, players have been divided into several categories.
Mohammad Amir Register In Afghanistan Premier League As British Citizen
Meanwhile, former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir recently registered for the Afghanistan Premier League as a British citizen.
Interestingly, Amir currently lives in England and holds a British passport. This could allow him to register as a British citizen rather than as a Pakistan player.
However, according to the same report, Mohammad Amir is also considering entering the IPL 2027 auction, scheduled for December 16 in Goa, as a British citizen.
