Recently, the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s official Instagram account was compromised in a hacking attempt. The official board posted on its X handle about the attempted breach.

Bangladesh Cricket Board issues formal notice after Instagram account got hacked
Taking to its X handle on November 2 at 3:17 PM IST, Bangladesh Cricket Board shared that the official social media handle was targeted in a hacking attempt on the night of November 1. Notably, the social media team is still receiving unauthorised access attempts.
“The BCB Instagram account was targeted in a hacking attempt last night (1 November 2026) and continues to face repeated unauthorised access attempts.”
Adding to the woe, the hacker has been repeatedly sending illegal cryptocurrency, betting website and phishing links to players, officials and even affiliated organisations.
“As a result, unauthorised messages containing links to illegal cryptocurrency and betting websites, as well as potential phishing links, are being sent to players, officials and affiliated organisations.”
Further, the BCB also warned all interested parties not to engage with any of the messages or requests from BCB’s Instagram handle until they are notified further on X by the official BCB account. The team will deliver an update themselves once the Instagram account is officially recovered and secured.
“Please do not click on, open or interact with any links received from the BCB Instagram account until further notice. Disregard these messages and do not share any personal information, passwords or login credentials through such links.
The account recovery and security process is ongoing. We will issue an update once the account has been fully secured,” the statement read.
Which famous cricketer or board’s social media account got hacked recently?
Hacking the social media accounts of popular celebrities, personalities and cricketers has become a massive practice in recent days, with some threats being casual while others are extremely harmful to the victims. One such scenario took place with India cricketer Rinku Singh.
In February 2026, hackers gained unauthorised access, locked Rinku out of his Facebook profile, and diverted monetisation funds. A cyber case was registered in Aligarh for the attempt, with Rinku recovering his ID later.
Notably, Washington Sundar’s social media account also got hacked in 2023, which posted unauthorised cryptocurrency-related links.
More recently, in July, the official Facebook page of the Assam Premier League was compromised and posted a defamatory message about local boy and Rajasthan Royals star Riyan Parag before access was restored.
