The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced new selection panels and the election commissioner on Thursday, following the national men's team's fiasco at the T20 World Cup 2026.

After the Pakistan were eliminated from the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026, Aleem Dar resigned from his post at PCB's selection panel. It is worth noting that Aleem Dar was named a part of the Pakistan selection committee by the PCB back in October 2024.

Days after the team's exit, the Pakistan board has officially named a new panel for both the women's and men's national teams.

Former Pakistan captains Misbah-ul-Haq and Sarfaraz Ahmed have replaced Aleem Dar and the team analyst, Usman Hashmi, who was a non-voting member of the previous panel, in the new selection panel for the men's national team.

Meanwhile, Asad Shafiq and Aqib Javed have retained their places on the selection panel.

Interestingly, the former Test batter Asad Shafiq is also a part of the selection panel for the Pakistan women's national team, alongside Batool Fatima. Meanwhile, the remaining two spots are open for the team head coach and captain.

Additionally, Mansoor Qadir, a retired Provincial Management Service Officer (BS -21), has been appointed as the Election Commissioner of the Pakistan Cricket Board.

Pakistan's awful run in T20 WC 2026

The Pakistan team was in shambles during the T20 World Cup 2026, where they were knocked out of the Super 8s. Pakistan's first game was abandoned due to rain, before they lost to Harry Brook's England. Eventually, they beat Sri Lanka by just 5 runs, despite posting 212 on the board.

A plethora of controversy has blasted in Pakistan after the end of an awful campaign. Reportedly, the board has fined the players PKR 50 lakh each, while an unknown cricketer is alleged to have harassed female hotel staff in Kandy as well.

Babar Azam dropped, Shaheen as captain for BAN ODIs

The PCB has recently announced the ODI squad for the three-game series in Bangladesh, with just five players from the T20 World Cup squad retaining their places. Babar Azam, Saim Ayub, Usman Khan, Mohammad Nawaz and Naseem Shah are the few names that have been dropped from the Pakistan squad.

Having said that, Shaheen Afridi, who took 8 wickets at an economy of 10.53 in the tournament, has been appointed as the new ODI captain. He has already led them in five T20Is, but the upcoming series will be his maiden assignment as Pakistan captain.

Pakistan are scheduled to face Bangladesh in a three-match ODI series later this month, starting from March 11. The three games will be played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur, Dhaka.
