Pakistan Soar In ICC ODI Rankings After Thrashing England, Sri Lanka

A day after thrashing England in the Tri-Series fixture, the Shaheen Afridi-led Pakistan have climbed up the latest ICC ODI rankings.

The Men in Green are currently busy in a tri-nation tournament, involving Sri Lanka and England in Pakistan. Notably, the hosts have won both their matches so far.

Shaheen Afridi takes Pakistan to fourth place at latest ICC ODI rankings

In the latest ICC ODI team rankings, updated on October 21, Pakistan have replaced Australia to take fourth place. Although Pakistan were among the top eight sides to qualify directly for the ODI World Cup 2027, a gain in the latest ranking will be a massive boost for Shaheen Afridi's company.

Afridi was named Pakistan's ODI captain in late 2025 after Pakistan's early exit from the Champions Trophy, co-hosted at home.

Under his leadership, the Men in Green are looking to find the right direction, as they did when they beat Australia 2-1 earlier this year. However, Afridi was also the captain when Bangladesh whitewashed them.

Baring the swap between Pakistan and the World Champions, there is no other change in the current ICC ODI team rankings. India continue to be at top of the rankings with 115 rating points, followed by New Zealand (109 rating) and South Africa (104 rating).

Pakistan are just one rating point behind the Proteas, while Australia have 102 rating points.

Arafat Minhas, Hasan Nawaz led Pakistan's charge vs England

On Tuesday, Shaheen Afridi's Pakistan bagged an emphatic victory over the Three Lions by 87 runs.

The hosts didn’t get off to the best start, with the top and middle order collapsing. However, Hasan Nawaz (79 off 74 balls) and Arafat Minhas (59 in 58 balls) helped Pakistan reach 302/9 after 50 overs.

Later in the defence, Minhas was again the chief architect, as the left-arm spinning all-rounder bagged a six-wicket haul to demolish England for just 215 runs.

Pakistan will next face England in Lahore on October 25, when the Men in Green will don pink kits for a noble cause. Meanwhile, the Three Lions will need to cap off their Rawalpindi leg by playing Sri Lanka on October 22.
