The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken a strict measure against one of its players by banning him and setting a great example for the cricketing boards across the world.
The cricketers from Pakistan have had a history of getting famous for all the wrong reasons, ranging from ball tampering to age-cheating. However, a budding all-rounder from the Sialkot region has joined the infamous list.
PCB bans Hamza Nazar for 2 years, asks to pay PKR 1 million fine
On Thursday, 31-year-old Hamza Nazar, an upcoming all-rounder, received a two-year ban from the PCB after providing incorrect information to the board in his visa application.
The Sialkot-based cricketer has been banned from participating in all domestic and international cricket activities, and he has also been asked to pay a hefty fine of PKR 1 million to the board.
The off-spinning all-rounder was said to be in line for his maiden Pakistan call-up for the recently concluded Test tour of the West Indies, but the visa-related issues prevented him from being part of the Pakistan Test team.
“The PCB constituted a three-member inquiry committee. The committee provided Hamza Nazar with an opportunity to present his position and respond to the matters under consideration,” the Pakistan board said in a press release.

"Following a detailed review of the committee’s findings, the PCB decided to suspend Hamza Nazar from all forms of domestic and international cricket for a period of two years and impose a fine of PKR one million.
“The PCB will not allow any individual to tarnish the reputation of the Board, Pakistan cricket or the millions of supporters who follow and cherish the game,” it added.
Who is Hamza Ali?
Known for his off-spin and middle-order batting, Hamza Ali is regarded as one of the most exciting players in the domestic cricket in the country.
Although he has yet to feature in the PSL, he made a name for himself in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2025, where he racked up 245 runs and scalped 18 wickets for Sialkot, who finished as runners-up.
Overall, Nazar has played 16 FC, 15 List-A and 10 T20 matches, where he has scored over 1000 runs and taken nearly 50 wickets, with a best score of 175 not out.
Notably, the PCB national selectors picked left-arm spinner Usman Ali for the West Indies Tests, as the spinning option with Sajid Khan.
What's next for Pakistan cricket team?
After levelling the two-match series in the Caribbean Islands, the Babar Azam-led Pakistan team will travel to England for a challenging three-Test series, starting on August 19 at Headingley, before the caravan moves to London and Birmingham.
For the ENG vs PAK series, the PCB have picked a similar squad to that which toured the West Indies. Abdullah Shafique has replaced an injured Shan Masood, although the former had hit a century in the second Test. Meanwhile, the rest of the squad remains the same.
