Pakistan vs Bangladesh 2nd ODI: Captains Thought
Shaheen Afridi (Pakistan Captain): "[Message to batters] I think it is a good wicket. Looks green but hard and good wicket. I think they know their mistake, they come hard and play their own shots. I truly believe in them.
[On who can play anchor's role] I think anyone can play that role. I believe we started well in the last game. I hope we play well in the middle overs and go for big total
Mehidy Hasan Miraz (Bangladesh Captain): (On the decision at the toss) “Yes, we’ll bowl first. (On Nahid Rana’s performance and expectations from the bowlers) I think the last match was excellent, and Rana did very well. We took many wickets, which was a blessing for our team. We are looking for wickets in the first 10 overs this time as well.
(On the opportunity to seal the series) It’s not easy. All the matches have been challenging. In the last match, we did very well, but we have to focus on our process.
Why Did Pakistan Drop Abrar Ahmed?
Pakistan learnt their lesson the hard way after 1st ODI as the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium pitch favoured seamers. Nahid Rana rattled through the Men in Green batters and picked up a fifer.
Therefore, for the ongoing match, Pakistan wanted to bring in more pace battery and roped in Haris Rauf back into the playing XI, dropping Abrar Ahmed. Also, Rauf can match Nahid Rana's pace, creating the same impact.
