As per the list, as many as 156 cricketers will be up for auction on October 7, including 95 South African players and 61 overseas stars. It is worth noting that despite Pakistan’s strong presence in several major T20 leagues around the world, no Pakistani player has been included in the SA20 2027 auction list.Pakistan players fail to make it to 156 SA20 2027 auction listA total of 789 cricketers had registered for the upcoming SA20 2027 auction. The list was subsequently trimmed down to 156 players, which comprises of 95 South Africans and 61 overseas stars.Among the 61 overseas cricketers, 31 of those are England players while nine are from West Indies. It remains to be seen if Pakistani players had registered for the auction this year. However, this is not the first time Pakistan players have not been shortlisted for the South African league. For SA20 2026, a total of 40 players had registered but none of them could find a place when the final shortlisted names arrived for the auction. Notable names such as Imam ul Haq, Saim Ayub, and Azam Khan had registered for last year's auction. Why were Pakistan players snubbed from SA20 2027 auction pool?It is worth noting that each of the six SA20 2027 competing franchises has Indian roots, considering the teams share ownership with an IPL franchise in India. With Pakistan players failing to find themselves in the finalized 156-player auction pool, the development is likely to once again raise questions over whether the ongoing India-Pakistan political tensions have played a role in their absence from the SA20.However, such may not necessary be the case as SRH’s sister franchise, the Sunrisers Leeds roped in Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed at The Hundred 2026 auction earlier this year. Therefore, while the absence of Pakistan players from the SA20 2027 auction pool is likely to fuel speculation, there is no official confirmation that political considerations were behind their omission. Also Read- Bangladesh Tour Of England 2027 Likely To Be Extended; Discussions Ongoing
