In the highly anticipated clash between India and Ireland, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is not making set to make his international debut in the first T20I of the two-match series at Belfast.

The IND vs IRE 1st T20I is marking the start of the long UK tour for the Men in Blue, during which the visitors will play two T20Is in Ireland before taking on England in five T20Is and three ODIs.

Moreover, it is also the start of the Shreyas Iyer captaincy era, who has succeeded Suryakumar Yadav as the Indian T20I captain.

From Ireland's quarters, the hosts are without six of their mainstays, as the top five Irish players are injured, and Paul Stirling is missing after quitting his job recently. Lorcan Tucker will lead an experienced Irish side.

Can they bag their first T20I victory over India against all odds? We will see that.

IND vs IRE 1st T20I, India Tour of Ireland: Captains Thoughts

Shreyas Iyer (India Captain): We are going to field first. It’s a new surface for us and majority of us haven’t played here in Belfast. Because of the wicket as well, we have decided to field first.

Honestly speaking, he has asked all the players to be themselves Be relentless. It comes from the experience and majority of us, it will be first time here. We have to get accustomed to the conditions here. We had a good training session yesterday.

Absolutely. We are going to take one match at a time. Right now, it’s over here in Ireland playing against Ireland and get the best out of each other.

I always keep saying that you don’t have to complicate things. Be in the present and don’t dwell in the past or the future. If you are in the game and if you enjoy it, it will be good.

[Is Vaibhav Sooryavanshi playing?] Unfortunately, no. We have got tremendous players. We are backing majority of your players who have done marvellous job. Yes, he will get a chance. But right now, we are going with two genuine seamers, one all-rounder and two spinners."

Lorcan Tucker (Ireland Captain): "(Thoughts on batting first?) Well, we would've looked to bowl first as well. It looks a very good wicket to bat on. Hopefully, we can post a strong total on the board.

(Taking over the captaincy from Stirling) I think it was a natural thing. Stirling led the side beautifully for the last couple of years. Very happy to have him behind me. He is a great T20 player as well.

(On his combination) We have a very exciting side. Jai Moondra & Matthew Hollard are making their Debuts tonight. Jai is a fast bowler. He bowls with the new ball. Matthew is a basher.
