The New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has announced a new series for the Indian team. India will travel to New Zealand for a multi-format tour, comprising ten white-ball matches and two Tests.
After facing the home team in five T20Is and as many ODIs, India will cross swords against New Zealand in two Tests. Meanwhile, NZC has finalised a new series for the Indian contingent amid the senior team's white-ball matches against the hosts.
NZC announces dates for India-A vs New Zealand-A matches
On September 2, New Zealand Cricket finalised a red-ball series between India-A and New Zealand-A. The three-match series will be conducted in parallel with the India vs New Zealand ODI and T20Is prior to the two-match Test series.
India's tour of New Zealand 2026 kicks off with the five-match T20I series on October 22. It will conclude with the second Test at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch, set to be played from November 27 to December 1.
Meanwhile, the three-match red-ball series between India-A and New Zealand-A starts on October 24 and runs till November 10.

The Bert Sutcliffe Oval in Lincoln will host the first and third four-day fixtures, with the second match of the series set to be played at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch.

India-A allotted packed schedule with India's WTC resurgence dream still alive
The India-A team will face Australia-A in two unofficial Test matches at home between September 22 and October 2. Meanwhile, their series against the New Zealand-A team starts on October 24, 22 days after the conclusion of the Australian assignment.
Led by Shubman Gill, the Indian Test side registered a phenomenal series win in Sri Lanka, defeating the home team by 1-0. Although Sonal Dinusha's valiant effort helped the Lankans avoid an embarrassing whitewash, India comprehensively outclassed their Asian rivals in the first Test in Galle, staying alive in the race to the WTC final.
India have two crucial series remaining in the current WTC cycle, as they will take on Australia in a hectic five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy after facing New Zealand in two games.
As these seven Tests hold significant importance for India from the WTC final's perspective, the team management is planning to build a robust pool of players who can not only succeed on the home pitches but also strengthen the Indian line-up in the seam-friendly conditions of New Zealand.
In such a scenario, the BCCI selection committee is expected to monitor and track the performance of the India-A players against their counterparts from Australia and New Zealand.
The players who perform admirably in these two series could be considered for a potential Test call-up if someone from the main squad becomes unavailable mid-tour for any reason.
Which players from India's Test squad could play for India-A amid the ODI and T20I legs?
Several prominent cricketers are regulars in the Test setup but are no longer part of India's ODI and T20I teams. Therefore, amid the Indian team's white-ball matches, these Test specialists could be picked in the India-A squad for the four-day matches against New Zealand-A.
Thus, the India-A vs New Zealand-A series will also allow India's Test specialists like Rishabh Pant, Dhruv Jurel, Devdutt Padikkal, Manav Suthar and Mohammed Siraj to acclimatise to the alien conditions before the Test series gets underway on November 19 at the Basin Reserve in Wellington.
