The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has assembled an 18-member squad to tour England. The team, named the MCA President’s XI Women, also features star international Sayali Satghare.
It is worth noting Satghare recently toured England with the Indian national team, and snared four wickets to script her team’s historic Test win at Lord’s in London earlier this month.
MCA picks young talents for England exposure
On Monday, July 20, the MCA announced an 18-member MCA President's XI women's squad. The squad has also embarked on a tour of the United Kingdom.
One of the primary objectives of the tour is to test the next generation of Mumbai Women cricketers in testing English conditions and against quality overseas opposition.

The team will be led by star top-order Mumbai batter Humaira Kazi, who has previously played 17 matches for the Mumbai Indians Women’s franchise in the WPL.
The team also includes ace India Women fast bowler Sayali Satghare. The 26-year-old has already played five internationals for Team India, including a Test match each in Australia and England.
In England earlier this month, the speedster claimed match figures of 4-64 as India Women thrashed the hosts by 270 runs to win the historic one-off Test at Lord’s in London. Here is a look at the entire MCA President’s XI Women squad for the tour of the United Kingdom.
MCA President XI Women squad: Humairaa Kaazi (c), Sayali Satghare, Vrushali Bhagat, Jagravi Pawar, Mahi Thakkar, Fatima Jaffer, Riya Chaudhari, Prakashika Naik, Hurley Gala, Aachal Valanju, Jeeya Mandrawadkar, Ashwini Nishad, Sanmaya Upadhyay, Kimaya Rane, Sadhvi Sanjay, Ria Thakur, Sonakshi Solanki and Soumya Singh.
It is worth noting that for several members in the squad, this UK tour will be their first opportunity to compete outside India. The players were selected by the MCA on the basis of their domestic performance, and the tour is intended to expose them to different pitches and playing conditions.
MCA names experienced support staff to accompany players
The MCA also named an experienced support staff to accompany the MCA President’s Women squad on the tour. As many as six members, including MCA Secretary and Team Director, Prof. Dr. Unmesh Khanvilkar will be travelling with the squad to the UK.
Ajay Kadam has been appointed as coach of the tour, and he will be accompanied with manager Vrunda Bhagat and a team physio. Here is a look at all six members of the team’s experienced support staff.

UK tour to benefit Team India and Mumbai

In the long run, such exposure could strengthen Mumbai’s talent pipeline and help produce more players capable of representing India Women at the highest level.
