Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Saturday confirmed that Mominul Haque will not play in the Bangladesh vs West Indies 2nd Test, to be played in Sylhet between November 5 and 9. The development happened after Mominul, former Bangladesh captain, was replaced by Jaker Ali as a concussion substitute during the BAN vs WI 1st Test in Mirpur on October 30.
Under the ICC's concussion protocol, a player must take a seven-day break after being diagnosed with a concussion. Thus, Mominul, who was anyway doubtful for selection, had no choice but to sit out during the BAN vs WI 2nd Test.
BCB Brings In Amite Hasan As Mominul Haque's Replacement
The BCB added Amite Hasan as a replacement for Mominul Haque for the 2nd Test between Bangladesh and the West Indies. Amite just smashed an unbeaten 201 in the fourth round of the ongoing National Cricket League (NCL) and was rewarded immediately with a recall.
Amite played only one match for Bangladesh in June this year. It was against Zimbabwe. There, he had the scores of 4 and 25 before getting benched.
“Right-hander Amite Hasan has replaced Mominul Haque, who is unavailable for the second Test due to the concussion rule that states that a player diagnosed with a concussion must observe a mandatory minimum of seven calendar days away from play before returning to the field,” BCB said in a statement.
Apart from that, there is no other change in Bangladesh squad for the 2nd Test against West Indies.

Bangladesh Need To Stage A Comeback After Mirpur Defeat
Bangladesh and the West Indies just met at Sher-e Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka, for the first Test. There, Roston Chase’s side handed the Tigers an eight-wicket defeat, which proved to be a huge blow to their World Test Championship (WTC) final dream.
If Najmul Hossain Shanto’s men want to keep it alive, they must turn things around in Mirpur. And for that, Amite Hasan, Mominul Haque’s replacement, could play a huge part.
