With just six matches into the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2026), a lot has happened in the league. Multiple controversies have emerged from the season so far, with the latest involving Hasan Ali and Haseebullah Khan.
In the sixth match of the PSL 2026, which was between Karachi Kings and the reigning champions Lahore Qalandars, a lot had happened. In a low-scoring thriller, both teams tried fighting till their last breath. However, it wasn’t meant to be for the Qalandars.
PCB slaps a hefty fine on Hasan Ali
In a game full of drama and unthinkable twists, Hasan Ali was the one of the reasons for Karachi Kings’ win in Lahore. As they reduced the defending champions to 128/9 bowling first, Hasan took a wicket and grabbed a catch, but the former became the talk of the hour.

The Karachi pacer cleaned up Haseebullah Khan with a pin-point yorker on the final ball of the 19th over of the innings, before giving the batter an animated send-off, which was followed with a verbal spat.
For his actions on the field, as per by the PCB, Hasan was found violating Article 2.5, which relates to “using language, actions or gestures that disparage or could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his or her dismissal during a match”.
The pacer has been fined 10% of his match fees for a "Level 1 breach of PCB’s Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel". Hasan Ali has accepted his mistake and the charges imposed on him by the PCB.
Fakhar Zaman's ball tampering saga
Additionally, Hasan Ali was not the only player to be sanctioned in the game between Lahore and Karachi. Fakhar Zaman breached Article 41.3 of the PSL 11 playing conditions when he tampered with the ball before the start of the final over, as they had 14 runs to defend.
The on-field umpire caught Fakhar during his action, and later changed the ball only after they were fined five runs as a penalty. The Karachi Kings did lose a wicket on the first ball, but Abbas Afridi finished off the game with a boundary and a six off Haris Rauf.
After the game, PCB charged Fakhar Zaman with a “Level 3 Offence under Article 2.14 of the applicable Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel” for changing the condition of the ball, as stated by a press release by the board.
The Lahore Qalandars batter has denied PCB's charge, and a hearing on the matter is scheduled in the next 48 hours. Reportedly, he may face a ban of 1 to 2 games if found guilty, along with losing a portion of his match fees.
What if Fakhar Zaman get a ban?
Fakhar Zaman may have failed against Karachi Kings, but he had a Player of the Match performance in the opener against Hyderabad Kingsmen. In the first game, the southpaw scored a 39-ball 53 and became the second batter to cross the 3000-run mark in the PSL.
If the Lahore Qalandars lose Fakhar’s services, they will have to open the innings with Mohammad Naeem and Abdullah Shafique, and then slot in Ryan Burl or Tayyab Tahir in the middle order.
However, the next two matches for the reigning champions are against the Multan Sultans, on April 3, and Islamabad United (on April 9).
