Mumbai Indians will begin their campaign in the IPL 2026 on Sunday with the clash against Kolkata Knight Riders, in the quest for their sixth title in the league. Even though they haven't won any silverware since 2020, Mumbai looks like one of the top contenders to lift it this year.

Mumbai have the strongest core of the season, with the team full of match-winners from tip to toe. If fit and available, MI has the luxury of fielding a side with all eleven international icons.

Jasprit Bumrah, after his visit to Bengaluru, has cleared up to play the IPL 2026. However, it is understood that Mumbai will miss Will Jacks and Mitchell Santner for initial few matches. Although the Kiwi might not have fit in MI's best playing XI, Jacks is expected to play an integral part for them this season.

Without the likes of Will Jacks and Mitchell Santner, let us look at the MI Predicted Playing XI vs KKR.

MI Predicted Playing XI vs KKR- IPL 2026, Match 1

Top Order: Rohit Sharma, Quinton de Kock, Suryakumar Yadav

There is no doubt that Rohit Sharma will open the innings. The former MI captain has been batting like a dream in the nets ahead of IPL 2026. Hitman has already retired from two international formats, which would mean he will be feeling light on his feet heading into the season.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it, ever heard of that? But it completes changes when Quinton de Kock comes into the picture. Ryan Rickelton did no wrong for MI last season, but he will have to make way for QDK in the MI Predicted Playing XI vs KKR. The pocket dynamo becomes a whole different gravy while opening for Mumbai in the IPL.

At number three, Suryakumar Yadav will bat. He is coming off a relatively quieter T20 World Cup, which India won under his leadership. However, he is back in Blue and Gold to play at Wankhede - the same venue where he hit a spellbinding 84* in the T20 WC.

Middle Order and All-Rounders: Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, Naman Dhir, Sherfane Rutherford

Tilak Varma reinvented himself during the T20 World Cup when he was asked to bat in the middle order. The southpaw loves taking on spin bowling, especially wrist-spin, in the middle overs, and he brings stability to a rather gung-ho batting line-up. Also, don't discount Tilak's handy off-spin.

Captain Hardik Pandya fits himself in (He would fit into any T20 side in the world!). He was in brilliant form, both with bat and ball, in the recently concluded ICC event, and now he will be eager to add the sixth IPL trophy to MI’s already illustrious cabinet.

Next in line will be Naman Dhir and Sherfane Rutherford. The two will serve as designated finishers in the MI Predicted Playing XI vs KKR. The Caribbean batter was traded in from Gujarat in an all-cash deal for the same reason, while Dhir has been in great form in recent times.

Bowlers: Shardul Thakur, Allah Ghazanfar, Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult

Another trade MI had before this season was bringing in Shardul Thakur from LSG by letting go of Arjun Tendulkar. Mumbai Indians are likely to play the Mumbai-based all-rounder over Deepak Chahar, who was below average last year.

There should be no discussions over Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult, as the two seamers are the two current best pacemen in the entire league. The Indian quick is the currently the best all-format bowler, given his stupendous form in recent years. Meanwhile, Boult, who plays just leagues across the globe, loves delivering with the new ball, making them the most integral part of the MI Predicted Playing XI vs KKR.

The last but not the least is going to Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar. MI waited for one year for the Afghan spinner after he ruled out last season. He has already played well for their sister franchise in the ILT20 and will now look to strengthen their spin attack. He will serve as the lone spinner in the MI Predicted Playing XI vs KKR.
