The India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup 2026 match was one of the most anticipated clashes in the tournament that ended in disappointment for the latter. The Men in Green failed to put up a challenge in front of a confident India, and veterans Shoaib Akhtar and Saqlain Mushtaq didn’t leave the opportunity to tear into the management for this.

While the Pakistan team management was to be blamed for putting up with inconsistent performers, Shoaib Akhtar didn’t even leave Pakistan Cricket Board chief Mohsin Naqvi, while humiliating him with verbal attacks.

Shoaib Akhtar Furious After IND vs PAK Defeat

In order to chase India’s 175, Pakistan were bundled for just 114 runs. The humiliation triggered the Pakistan veterans to criticise the management, with seniors like Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi and Shadab Khan underperforming.

Slamming Mohsin Naqvi’s cricket knowledge, Shoaib Akhtar was verbally straightforward in subtly calling him unaware of the sport.

“If you make me the chairman for this channel, I won’t know how this works. Now you’ve made someone chairman, who doesn’t know what cricket is. What can we do? How will this team work?” complained Akhtar while speaking on ABP News.

Akhtar Slams Pakistan's 'Star' Culture

Akhtar then slammed the ‘superstar’ culture, where he indirectly took a dig at players like Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi.

“You have a guy you’ve turned into a superstar, and he can’t win you a single game. You’ve made a star of a guy who can’t give you 10 overs,” explained Akhtar.

Akhtar even went to the lengths of calling Mohsin Naqvi incompetent and non-qualified for the job of chairman.

“The biggest crime in the world is giving an incompetent guy the biggest job. When an incompetent and ignorant person is given a big job, any sort of chaos and damage can happen,” said Akhtar.

“India have gone very far ahead, and we have been left very far behind. It’s all about TRP now (television rating points). We aren’t going to see any fight on the pitch, but I hope Pakistan can beat Namibia, reach Super 8s, and some kind of miracle can happen. I’ll keep backing Pakistan,” concluded Shoaib Akhtar.

Saqlain Mushtaq Echoes Akhtar’s Thoughts in T20 World Cup 2026

Along the line of thought of Shoaib Akhtar, ex-Pakistan star, Saqlain Mushtaq reiterated the stance of players and how they will be willing to improve without the unnecessary pressure from coaches and management that change overnight.

“All I am saying is that we have potential within us. All the boys are somehow preparing themselves under this pressure on their own. No coach can come and change you overnight, and no chairman can change things instantly either. Credit to all these boys — that is the biggest thing,” Mushtaq said.

Nevertheless, the loss against Pakistan on February 15 means the team will have to have a must-win match against Namibia on February 18 if they want to qualify for the Super 8s.

Meanwhile, India has qualified for the Super 8 stage with 3 straight wins from 3 matches and will only formally play against the Netherlands on February 18 to conclude the group stage.
