Harbhajan Singh has brutally roasted the Pakistan cricket team after their record defeat against India at the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. The legendary Indian off-spinner even stated that any semi-decent domestic team from India can compete or defeat Pakistan at the big stage.

It is worth noting that Team India trounced Pakistan by 61 runs to make lightwork of their “anticipated” Group A clash at the R. Premadasa Stadium on February 15. Defending 176 for a win, Indian bowlers bundled out Pakistan for just 114 in 18 overs.

Harbhajan Singh roasts Pakistan batting

Harbhajan Singh has trolled the Pakistan cricket team after their heavy defeat against India at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The legendary Indian off-spinner criticized Pakistan’s struggling batting line-up that crumbled out for just 114 inside 20 overs.

While speaking with Sports Tak journalist Vikrant Gupta after the match, Singh said “Very bad batting. I think any decent Indian domestic team can defeat Pakistan at this stage.”

Sunil Gavaskar joins Pakistan slander

Accompanying Harbhajan Singh, former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar also joined in and mocked the ‘Men in Green’ for their dismal record off late. The legendary batter described Pakistan as the new “Popatwadi team”.

In Mumbai cricket slang, Popatwadi is a phrase used to describe weaker teams. Sunil Gavaskar had also used the slang last year after Pakistan’s triple defeats at the hands of India at the 2025 Asia Cup in the UAE.

India makes it 8-1, and 9-0 vs Pakistan

India batted first and charted 175-7 in 20 overs. Blistering opener Ishan Kishan blasted 77 runs off just 40 balls at the top of the order with 10 scorching boundaries and three huge sixes. After the fall of opener Abhishek Sharma in the first over, Kishan’s counterattacking approached blazed India to 88 in 8.4 overs by the time of his dismissal.

Captain Suryakumar Yadav (32 off 29) and Tilak Varma (25 off 24) held the innings together in the middle overs, while Shivam Dube (27 off 17) unleashed the late fireworks alongside Rinku Singh (11* off 4).

In response, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah decimated Pakistan’s top-order at 13-3, soon to be 34-4 before getting bundled out for just 114 in 18 overs. Both Pandya and Bumrah picked up two wickets each in the innings. Spinners Axar Patel, Varun Chakravarthy, Kuldeep Yadav and Tilak Varma also tore through Pakistan’s struggling middle-order.

The outcome marked India’s ninth successive win over Pakistan in their last nine completed international matches, a streak that began at the 2023 ODI Asia Cup. The win also extended India’s T20 World Cup lead over Pakistan to 8-1.

India march into Super 8s

Team India became the first side from Group A to march into the Super 8 of the T20 World Cup 2026. With three wins in three matches, they are placed at the top of the standings with a formidable NRR of 3.050.

India will now face Netherlands in match number 36 of the tournament on February 18 in Ahmedabad.
