Mumbai Indians (MI) legend Kieron Pollard and his on-field banter or heated altercation never get old. And it happened once again on Monday, when MI New York were in action with Texas Super Kings in Match 7 of the Major League Cricket (MLC) 2026 at Grand Prairie Stadium, Dallas.

More significantly, it was an Indian who previously held an IPL contract with whom Pollard had a fight. His name is Shubham Ranjane, who was associated with Rajasthan Royals (RR) during IPL 2019. RR signed him at his base price of INR 20 lakh.

Back then, Ranjane used to play for Mumbai in India’s domestic circuit, alongside Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube, among others.

What Happened Between Pollard & Shubham Ranjane?

It all started when Pollard, MI New York captain, brought himself into the attack to bowl the 12th over of the innings against the Super Kings. Ranjane, while taking two runs, made contact with Pollard in an unintentional way.

Soon after, Pollard pulled out at the very last moment while bowling the next ball. Ranjane did not like that, and he pulled out as well just when Pollard was about to release the ball.

To make it fun, Pollard completed his bowling action in the middle of the pitch when there was no Ranjane in front of him. Umpires, however, spoke with Ranjane about the situation.

Pollard Vs Ranjane To Happen Again On June 26

Meanwhile, Kieron Pollard and Shubham Ranjane will face each other once again on June 26, as MI New York and Texas Super Kings will meet in an MLC 2026 fixture in four days. California’s Oakland Coliseum will host the MI vs Super Kings match on June 26.

Under Nicholas Pooran, MI New York defeated Texas Super Kings by eight wickets. The Super Kings were bundled out for 158 in 19.2 overs, with Corbin Bosch, another Mumbai Indians player, returning figures of 4/29.

Coming to chase, Pooran made 68 runs off 46 balls without losing his wicket, as MI New York got past the finishing line with 16 balls and eight wickets in hand.

MI New York Are Defending Champions

MI New York had six defeats in their first seven outings in MLC 2025. They seemed to be down and out at one stage before pulling off a dramatic turnaround.

They went all the way to reach the final and eventually defeated Washington Freedom by five runs to lift the trophy.

Last year, Nicholas Pooran was the captain of MI New York. He is at the helm once again, while Pollard, aged 39 and still going strong, will be alongside him to help him defend the title.

In addition, Quinton de Kock, Monank Patel and Romario Shepherd, among other superstars, are there. They lost to Washington Freedom in their MLC 2026 opener, but got back on a winning track against the Super Kings.
