Lucknow Super Giants have dealt a heavy blow as their star player has left the squad mid IPL 2026 due to personal reasons. It is a big setback for the Rishabh Pant-led side as they are already struggling in the season and placed 10th on the table with just 2 wins in 8 matches.

Notably, it is a second blow for LSG this season as Anrich Nortje previously left the side due to unknown reasons.

Matthew Breetzke Returns To South Africa

Notably, it is the star South African batter Matthew Breetzke, who has returned home. A report from Cricbuzz stated that the 27-year-old had left the camp on April 26 before the LSG vs KKR match. The right-handed batter returned home for personal reasons.

The report added that Matthew Breetzke went back primarily because a close family member on his wife's side died recently. There is no information yet on whether Breetzke will return to the tournament.

Why Is Matthew Breetzke A Match-Winner For LSG?

Interestingly, Matthew Breetzke has not played a solitary game in IPL 2026. The right-handed batter is quite behind in the pecking order, which has surprised fans. However, his stats with South Africa clealry shows that he is a match-winner for any team.

Notably, shedding light on Matthew Breetzke,  the right-handed batter has scored 853 runs across formats in the last two years. Therefore, LSG, who are in a lot of trouble at this moment, could have brought in Breetzke to their line-up to bring in immediate impact.

However, there is uncertainity over Breetzke's return as LSG only have six matches left in the tournament.

Lucknow Super Giants Boosted By Josh Inglis' Return

Amid Breetzke's departure, LSG have also recieved a massive boost as Josh Inglis has joined the squad. Notably, LSG shocked everyone during IPL 2026 auction when they went after Josh Inglis.

Notably, before the start of the tournament, the Australia batter had confirmed that he would be available for a limited time in IPL 2026. The waiting time is finally over for the franchise and the right-handed batter will be up for selection from the upcoming game against Mumbai Indians on May 4.

Whom Will Josh Inglis Replace In The Playing XI For LSG?

Lucknow Super Giants don't have much of an issue over here because Nicholas Pooran is in really poor form. The 21 crore buy, who was once touted to lead the Super Giants, is most likely to make his way out of the team.

Shedding light on Nicholas Pooran's numbers in IPL 2026, the Caribbean power-hitter has managed to amass just 82 runs in 8 innings.
