The toss update is out for the high-octane match between Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2026 at the iconic Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

In a significant development, South African duo David Miller, along with Lungi Ngidi, has been left out of DC’s playing 11 as confirmed by skipper Axar Patel.

Here’s how the Delhi Capitals Playing XI looks:

KL Rahul (wk), Pathum Nissanka, Sameer Rizvi, Tristan Stubbs, Nitish Rana, Axar Patel (c), Ashutosh Sharma, Kyle Jamieson, Mitchell Starc, Kuldeep Yadav, T Natarajan

Impact sub: Karun Nair, Abishek Porel, Vipraj Nigam, David Miller, Auqib Nabi

In the same context, this article sheds light on why the Delhi Capitals' senior batter David Miller is not playing in today’s IPL match, and provides a brief note on Lungi Ngidi’s ouster vs RR.

Why is David Miller not playing against Rajasthan Royals?

Signed for INR 2 crore, David Miller has had a solid yet mixed IPL 2026 season so far for Delhi Capitals, scoring 123 runs in seven matches at an average of 41.00 and a strike rate of 146.42.

While he recently achieved the milestone of 12,000 T20 runs, his stint has included a mix of finishing heroics and a notable missed opportunity against Gujarat Titans.

While talking at the toss, DC captain Axar Patel confirmed Miller’s absence in today’s game saying, “David Miller is not playing because Pathum is the 4th overseas player, so Ashutosh is playing.”

Patel remarked that the South African batter’s snub has nothing to do with his performance, but rather a tactical call to manage the IPL overseas player quota.

To bring in Mitchell Starc and Pathum Nissanka while keeping Kyle Jamieson in the playing 11, one foreign player had to be left out. Thus, David Miller misses out on tonight’s game.

Lungi Ngidi misses out versus RR despite a full recovery

On the same note, the South African ace, Lungi Ngidi, who did not feature in DC’s game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, also sits this one out.

After sustaining a serious neck injury against Punjab Kings, Lungi, according to ICC mandates, was required to serve a seven-day stand-down period, despite his potential recovery.

Delhi Capitals’ playoff qualification hangs by a thread

Axar Patel-led Delhi Capitals are entering today’s IPL 2026 match number 43 hoping to stay alive in the playoff race, as a loss would put them in a desperate "do-or-die" situation.

Currently seventh with a 3-match losing streak and a recent 75-run collapse, DC needs a win to address low confidence, batting instability, and improve their 2-5 record in Jaipur.
