The Sanjiv Goenka vs Rishabh Pant video has been doing the rounds on the internet since April 1, after the Delhi Capitals dominated the Lucknow Super Giants on their home ground at Ekana. As the LSG owner was found reprimanding Rishabh Pant with pointed fingers in the video, after the match, the video sparked massive backlash.
Lalit Modi, IPL’s founding member, also bashed the behaviour of Sanjiv Goenka, demanding his immediate ban from IPL while calling him a clown. Amidst all these conundrums, LSG dropped a brand new video on April 2 that intended to show the real side of the Goenka-Pant footage.
LSG Posts Damage Control Video On Social Media
Lucknow Super Giants' social media handle, still reeling from backlash after Sanjiv Goenka and Rishabh Pant's interaction, saw the social media team decide to drop a video that shared the real story behind the viral clip where Goenka was found scolding Pant aggressively with pointed fingers.
The video was released by Lucknow Super Giants on their official social media handle on April 2 at 7:34 PM IST. LSG posted the video with the caption, "Not everything you see is the true story. Here's the unfiltered post-match vibes when cameras don't cut."

The video shared an unfiltered moment where Sanjiv Goenka was seen sharing laughs along with coach Justin Langer and Rishabh Pant, with the group of people just having a fun conversation after the IPL match. However, there were some discrepancies in the LSG video noted by X users online.

Community Notes Exposes Real Truth Behind ‘Fake’ Video
A community note appeared under the video, where it was written that the video was just an image cleanup.
“Sanjiv Goenka is trying to wash his sins by posting videos taken post the incident when the spat occurred, as there was a crowd. In this video, there is no crowd, which means Rishabh Pant was called back to recreate the scene like Drishyam 2 on Oct,” the note shared.

Now, what is a community note? A community note on X is a crowdsourced, user-driven annotation system that allows users as well as contributors to add context to certain videos or posts.
Source clarification and correction of misleading posts also appear in these notes, which provide helpful and accurate information for viewers.
Discrepancies Pointed Out In The Video
Hence, the community note that disclaimed the video as fake led to further social media backlash for Lucknow, with users calling it damage control or drama to fool the audience, since in the viral video, there was a crowd in the background, whereas the new video dropped was shot in an entirely empty stadium after the IPL match.
Some even pointed out that the advertisement boards behind the viral video showed certain ads that were not seen in the post-match video released by LSG on their official social media handle.
As discrepancies follow, whether the video is real or not remains under the clouds. However, it is clear that the video released by Lucknow was to control the damage to the reputation of LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka.
Goenka has been involved in past feuds with KL Rahul as well as Rishabh Pant in earlier seasons, where he has been seen questioning the players aggressively in viral video clips.
Meanwhile, Lucknow Super Giants booked their first loss of IPL against DC and will look to bounce back in their upcoming clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 5, where the latter secured a victory against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 2 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
