A small but meaningful gesture from the Trinbago Knight Riders franchise has put Dwayne Bravo in the spotlight once again. Just a couple of weeks before the cricketer will be inducted into the CPL Hall of Fame, Bravo has had his iconic jersey number retired by the Knight Riders.
It is worth noting that the franchise honoured the former West Indies all-rounder amid the ongoing CPL 2026 season. In a small ceremony at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain on August 30, the franchise retired Bravo’s jersey number.
Knight Riders ensure no other player will wear Bravo’s 47 jersey for them again
The Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) franchise has ensured that no other player will ever wear the number 47 on the back of their jersey while playing for them again.
The franchise owners and the team management recently felicitated Dwayne Bravo by retiring his iconic '47' jersey number with a small ceremony at Port of Spain after match number 20 of the CPL 2026 season.
Currently serving the Knight Riders franchise as its head coach, the former cricketer had his iconic TKR jersey framed by the franchise, with the moniker ‘Sir Champion’, a fitting tribute that reflects his contribution to the franchise and his nickname.

Bravo yet to be included in CSK’s Hall of Fame, '47 jersey' remains in play
Dwayne Bravo, who also holds a prolific track record with the CSK in the IPL, is yet to receive similar recognition by the franchise.
Moreover, just earlier this year, the franchise introduced its ‘Hall of Fame’ ahead of the IPL 2026 season. Former cricketers Suresh Raina and Matthew Hayden were named as the inaugural inductees by the franchise, leaving out legendary all-rounder Dwayne Bravo for the time being.
Moreover, the CSK franchise has also not retired Bravo’s jersey number '47' yet. Still in play, the jersey number is currently helmed by Indian pacer Anshul Kamboj.
Dwayne Bravo's legacy in CSK and TKR compared
Dwayne Bravo has been part of a CPL title-winning side for the Trinbago Knight Riders on four occasions. Moreover, the cricketer led the franchise to CPL glory in three of them as captain.
Bravo was also the head coach of the Knight Riders group that lifted the CPL 2025 title last year. He is currently reprising his head-coaching role with the franchise in the ongoing CPL 2026 season in the Caribbean.
For the CSK franchise, Bravo has lifted the coveted IPL title on three occasions, each time as a player. While gracing CSK’s iconic yellow jersey, the former West Indies cricketer twice won the ‘Purple Cap’ award for his proficient bowling back in 2013 and 2015.
His decorated trophy career for both franchises aside, here is a look at how the senior all-rounder has fared as a player for TKR and CSK.
