In a significant development, it has been understood that two key members of the KKR IPL 2026 setup are set to join a Pakistan-based franchise for the upcoming Caribbean Premier League edition.
Led by Ajinkya Rahane, KKR have had a roller-coaster ride in the IPL 2026 season. They have managed only three wins across eight matches, reeling at eighth in the IPL points table.
The Knight Riders had a woeful start to the season, losing five of their first six group-stage matches. However, Rinku Singh's return to form helped them turn the table, as they recorded a three-match winning streak.
Amid KKR's underwhelming returns in the IPL 2026, two of their team members have been tipped to join a Pakistan-based franchise for the CPL this season.
Andre Russell, Rovman Powell set to play for Jamaica Kingsmen in CPL 2026
The 2026 edition of the Caribbean Premier League commences on August 7, with Jamaica Kingsmen taking on Antigua and Barbuda Falcons. The high-voltage clash will be played at the Arnos Vale Ground in St Vincent.
According to a report by journalist Daniel Blake, Andre Russell and Rovman Powell, two prominent figures of the KKR IPL 2026 setup, will represent the Jamaica Kingsmen in the CPL 2026.
Rovman Powell is a member of the KKR IPL 2026 squad and has represented the franchise in seven IPL matches this season. Meanwhile, Andre Russell is a KKR legend and currently serves as the power coach of the three-time IPL champions.

Despite their strong connection with the Indian T20 league, Russell and Powell are set to join the Kingsmen franchise, which also owns a team in the Pakistan Super League.
Notably, Jamaica Kingsmen is owned by USA-based Pakistani entrepreneur Fawad Sarwar, who is also the owner of PSL franchise Hyderabad Kingsmen.
Kingsmen franchise eyes CPL title after PSL setback
Hyderabad Kingsmen made their maiden PSL appearance this year, qualifying for the final of the competition.
Although the Marnus Labuschagne-led team lost the final to eventual champions Peshawar Zalmi, it earned massive applause for showing commendable resilience and fighting spirit throughout the tournament.
Interestingly, the CPL 2026 will mark the maiden stint of the Kingsmen franchise in the famed T20 tournament. The team was known as Jamaica Tallawahs until the 2023 season and was excluded from the 2024 and 2025 editions of the competition.
As they make a grand comeback to the CPL with a new identity, Jamaica Kingsmen would be keen to make their first stint memorable with a title triumph.
Rovman Powell and Andre Russell are expected to emerge as their key players, considering how they have performed in the CPL so far.
Russell, a member of the KKR IPL coaching staff, has amassed 1960 CPL runs, while Rovman Powell has scored 1929 runs with the help of nine half-centuries.
