Ever since Kavya Maran, the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) owner who also holds the authority of Sunrisers Leeds, bought Abrar Ahmed for £190,000 in the recently concluded The Hundred auction, Indian fans could not hold themselves from criticising her.

In this day and age, Lalit Modi, the IPL founder, came in support to Kavya, saying that he has faced many similar hurdles in the past, and can help her out from this situation.

Lalit Modi Breaks Silence On Abrar Ahmed Sunrisers Signing

Given that Abrar plays for Pakistan, and the current geopolitical relationship with the country for India is not as good as it was previously, social media erupted with hatred once SRH owner Kavya Maran signed the 27-year-old leg-spinner. However, Lalit Modi went to different direction social media, and posted a small video with a message.

“I know a thing or two about managing optics and building empires. Call me," Lalit Modi posted on Wednesday.

Notably, SRH’s sister franchise Sunrisers Leeds’ social media account was also suspended after the situation accelarated real quickly with Indian fans all over the place to bash the SRH owner for raising the paddle.

It will be interesting to see when Abrar will don the Sunrisers jersey for the Leeds-based franchise. The Hundred season for the upcoming edition will get underway on July 21 and it will finish on August 16. The all-important season finale will take place at Lord’s Cricket Ground, London. The auction – probably the first of many – also took place there only almost a week ago.

List Of Pakistan Players Who Played In IPL

Even though Abrar did not get the chance to play IPL due to India-Pakistan political tensions, there were many players from Pakistan who used to wear the IPL jersey. KKR had quite a few – Salman Butt, Umar Gul, Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Hafeez.

RCB had Misbah-ul-Haq, while Delhi Daredevils (now known as Delhi Capitals) had Mohammad Asif and Shoaib Malik. Kamran Akmal, Sohail Tanvir and Younis Khan represented Rajasthan Royals, and Shahid Afridi used to wear the jersey of Deccan Chargers.

Furthermore, Azhar Mahmood represented two IPL franchises, Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) in 2012-13 season, and KKR in 2015-16 season.

Lalit Modi Story - What Happened To IPL Founder?

Lalit Modi founded IPL in 2008, and fell from grace three years later. He got involved in a money-laundering case, which did not allow him to stay associated with the cricket’s grandest money-making competition.

Things in particular went south for Lalit Modi when IPL took place in 2009 in South Africa.

Despite the fact that Lalit Modi played an important role in taking IPL to the centre stage, his off-field antics took all the fame from him, and took him to streets.
