India vs Bangladesh tour set to be postponed again [Source: BCCI]
In a recent development, the "in discussion" India vs Bangladesh white-ball tour could be postponed yet again after reports emerged of a possible change to the schedule around September 2026.
BCB president Tamim Iqbal hinted that the ongoing talks regarding India's tour of Bangladesh, which is scheduled for early next month, could result in another postponement as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) are yet to reach any conclusion with the fixtures after a new hindrance arrived.
India vs Bangladesh White-Ball Tour Postponed Again, Confirms BCB President
The tour between the two countries, which was originally planned for August 2025, was initially postponed to September 2026. In January this year, the Bangladesh Cricket Board announced that India would play three ODIs and three T20Is against the hosts in Dhaka and Chattogram.
Although the BCCI never made any public announcement regarding the series, speculation grew after Iqbal also hinted at the possibility of the tour taking place with media right release also indicating possibilities. However, with just a few weeks remaining before the first ODI in September, Tamim has now suggested that the dates could be changed again.
In a recent press conference in Dhaka, the BCB president announced an age-group tournament called the Game Development Trophy. According to the announcement, the tournament is scheduled to run from August 28 to September 9, with all matches set to be played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.

Tamim Iqbal positive on series confirmation
Commenting on the development of the tournament and the possible India vs Bangladesh series, Tamim said that there could be a change to the schedule, with the dates potentially being shifted again before a final decision is made.
"Both boards remain in discussion about the India series. The dates may be shifted here or there. This tournament is being held in Mirpur but it can be shifted to the Basundhara ground in two minutes. If the India series is locked and fixed, we will schedule it accordingly," Tamim shared.
Why was the India vs Bangladesh tour postponed earlier?
Earlier in July 2025, the tour, which was initially scheduled to take place in August, was moved to September 2026 after the BCCI and BCB agreed on the revised terms, taking into account their international cricketing commitments and scheduling requirements.
The development in 2025 generated considerable excitement around the 2026 series before relations between the two boards reportedly became strained following the Kolkata Knight Riders and Mustafizur Rahman controversy during IPL 2026 and Bangladesh's early exit from the 2026 T20 World Cup.
The postponement of the tour has now created uncertainty around the fixtures, with the BCCI yet to comment publicly on the latest developments. Meanwhile, Tamim Iqbal, the BCB president, has also kept fans guessing over whether the series will go ahead as originally planned.
Will the India vs Bangladesh white-ball series take place in 2026?
India, after concluding their tour of Sri Lanka, will play Afghanistan in a T20I series from September 13. They will then face the West Indies in a white-ball series, which is scheduled to conclude on October 17.
Soon after that, India will tour New Zealand for a white-ball series, followed by a red-ball series against the Kiwis in November.
With very little room left in India's packed schedule, the team is set for a hectic cricketing calendar through February 2027. This could make it increasingly difficult for the BCCI to find a suitable window for the Bangladesh white-ball series, meaning the two teams may not be able to arrange the tour in 2026 after all.
