Pakistan faced another major setback after the ICC punished star player Salman Ali Agha following the team's humiliating Test series defeat against Bangladesh.

Pakistan's campaign in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 has started on a disastrous note as they slipped to eighth place in the WTC points table after losing both Tests at home (PCT - 8.33).

Bangladesh created history by defeating Pakistan 2-0 in the Test series. After winning the first Test by 104 runs, Bangladesh sealed the second Test by 78 runs in Sylhet on May 20.

After the series win, Bangladesh have moved to the fifth spot with a PCT of 58.34.

Salman Ali Agha fined by ICC after Bangladesh vs Pakistan 2nd Test

After the defeat against Bangladesh, the ICC handed Salman Ali Agha an official fine for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the second Test.

It is important to note that the violation falls under Article 2.2, which relates to the abuse of cricket equipment or ground fixtures during an international match.

Along with the reprimand, one demerit point was added to Salman Ali Agha's disciplinary record. It was his second offence within 24 months, taking his total tally to two demerit points.

Earlier this year, he was also penalised for a similar offence during an ODI against Bangladesh in Dhaka on March 13.

"Salman was found to have breached Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an International Match." ICC's statement read.

"Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, a maximum penalty of 50 per cent of a player’s match fee, and one or two demerit points." the statement added.

Why was Salman Ali Agha punished after BAN vs PAK 2nd Test?

It is vital to note that Salman Ali Agha was punished after the second Test match. The incident happened during the 82nd over of Pakistan's second innings.

After getting out, Salman Ali Agha hit an advertising board with his bat while walking back to the pavilion in frustration.

The match officials considered his action inappropriate and charged him with misconduct. The Pakistan captain accepted his mistake and agreed to the punishment suggested by the match referee, so no formal hearing was needed.

Pakistan's upcoming Test fixtures

Pakistan will next face England in a three-match Test series. The first match of the series will be played from 19 to 22 August at the Headingley Carnegie, Leeds.

The 2nd Test will be played at Lord's Cricket Ground from August 27-31. The third and the final Test match will be played at Edgbaston, Birmingham, from 9-13 September.
