Hasan Mahmud was one of the best in the market from Bangladesh when they switched from spin to pace approach in terms of the bowling attack. However, he is no longer in the mix, as Bangladesh have found a new leader in Nahid Rana.
Along with Rana, the likes of Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman and Shoriful Islam made sure there is no room for Mahmud, who last played for the country in November 2025 during their Test match against Ireland.
Hasan Mahmud Makes His Kent Debut Memorable
Six days ago, England’s county side Kent announced the signing of Hasan Mahmud for six County Championship matches. He made an immediate impact on his debut while playing against Lancashire.
In the first innings, Mahmud took three wickets for 32 runs, which helped Kent bundle out Lancashire for 87 runs. Coming to bowl in the second innings, he was even more influential, returning figures of 6/69 which eventually played an important role in Kent’s 140-run victory over Lancashire.

With that, Hasan Mahmud finished with his career-best match figures (9/101) in First-Class Cricket.
Mahmud played two matches during the World Cup 2023. One of which was against India. There, he was punished from left to right, as India scored 65 runs from his eight overs. In that match, he got the wicket of Rohit Sharma, which was his only success.
During the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2026, Mahmud was part of Noakhali Express. He was very impressive there, taking 16 wickets in 10 matches with an economy rate of just 6 runs.
Before that, he used to play for Khulna Tigers and Rangpur Riders in BPL since making his debut 2019/20 season.
Where Are Kent Now?
There are eight teams in the County Championship Division Two 2026, including Kent. They are currently placed second on the points table, only behind Durham. While Durham have four wins and three draws in seven matches, Kent have three victories and a defeat in seven matches.
Still, Kent will have to play seven matches in the ongoing edition of County Championship Division Two, and Hasan Mahmud would like to improve his numbers in the upcoming fixtures.
When Mahmud Got Rohit, Kohli And Gill In Same Match?
During the 1st Test between India and Bangladesh in Chennai in September 2024, Hasan Mahmud made a lot of headlines. He got the wickets of the then-captain Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli in quick succession before claiming 5/83 in the innings.
In total, Mahmud has picked up 38 wickets in 13 Tests at an average of 30.30. Apart from that, he has claimed 33 wickets in 26 ODIs and 28 wickets in 26 T20Is.
Moreover, with recent heroics in First Class Cricket, Mahmud has now got 104 in red-ball cricket after 61 innings.
