As the young pacer recently underwent knee surgery, he was seen walking into the ceremony with a crutch. While handing him the award, BCCI’s kind gesture won hearts.

When Team India was looking for a next-generation all-format bowler, Harshit Rana emerged as a potential bowler. Making his debut in international cricket in 2024, he showcased his excellence in all three formats as the cricket world watched his brilliance in awe. The efforts didn’t go unnoticed as BCCI awarded him the Best International Debut (Male).
But the youngster suffered a major setback when he sustained a serious knee injury just before the T20 World Cup 2026 and had to undergo surgery. Although he is now miles away from the cricket action, he attended the BCCI Naman Awards 2026.

The young Indian pacer was seen struggling as he walked into the ceremony with a crutch. But BCCI's kind gesture to the bowler earned worldwide praise. As Harshit was seen visibly struggling while walking, IPL chairman Arun Dhumal delivered the prize to his seat.
Just after he was announced as the winner, Dhumal came down from the stage with the winner’s trophy and handed him at his seat. As he was struggling to walk due to the injury, the BCCI ensured he didn’t have to climb the stage, and the kind gesture stole the spotlight.
Harshit Rana announces his arrival with a sensational year
Whenever Harshit steps onto the field, critics often point to his KKR connection with coach Gautam Gambhir, but the youngster’s unreal talent spoke the last words. Making his Test debut in 2024 against Australia, he made an impact. In two Tests so far, he secured four wickets.
Stepping into the white-ball arena, he made his ODI debut in 2025. In his first-ever ODI game against England, he secured three crucial heads, turning heads worldwide. The 50-over format brought the best out of him as he secured 26 wickets in 14 matches.
The IPL stage already witnessed Harshit Rana’s brilliance in the shortest format, and Indian cricket found a future superstar in him. Making his debut in 2025, he secured nine wickets in nine matches. Throughout the year, Rana thrived at every given chance.
IPL 2026 slips out of Harshit Rana’s reach after cruel setback
After missing out on his maiden T20 World Cup appearance, Harshit Rana suffered another heartbreaking blow as an injury ruled him out of IPL 2026. That has been a big setback for both the player and KKR management, as Rana has always been their frontline pacer in recent times.
After making his IPL debut in 2022, Harshit delivered some game-changing performances for KKR as he remained one of the biggest pillars of their IPL 2024 triumph. However, the gold and purple brigade is already dealing with major blows in their bowling unit, and Rana’s injury has added another huge concern for the franchise.
