In a major development, Ayush Mhatre has undergone surgery for a Grade 4 tear in his right hamstring and could be out of action for around four months.

The 19-year-old batter suffered the injury while playing for Mumbai against Chandigarh in the opening round of the 2026–27 Ranji Trophy at the Wankhede Stadium.

Ayush Mhatre was batting when he injured his hamstring while trying to complete a second run. His absence could be a major setback for Mumbai, as he is unlikely to play for the team for the rest of the season.
