The GT vs SRH IPL 2026 fixture was supposed to be a cracker of a contest, but the Titans made a mockery of the visitors, and they inflicted a heavy defeat to displace RCB, and go top of the table.
The Gujarat Titans side struggled with the bat, but as witnessed in the IPL 2026, their bowlers produced a bowling masterclass as SRH batters crumbled under pressure, and handed an easy win to the Shubman Gill-led side.
GT go top of the table with win vs SRH
The GT Vs SRH IPL 2026 match was a battle to reach the top of the points table, and the clash lived up to the hype. Sunrisers won the toss and Pat Cummins elected to field first. The move paid dividends as Shubman Gill, and Jos Buttler were dismissed in quick succession.
Nishant Sindhu and Sai Sudharsan resurrected the innings, with Sindhu taking the charge and smacking a couple of sixes before getting dismissed.
Sudharsan played a steady innings, and he accelerated after reaching the 40s as the batter slammed yet another fifty in the IPL 2026 to enter a special feat. The southpaw was dismissed for 61 off 44 before Washington Sundar became GT’s unlikely hero and hammered a quickfire 50 off 33 to propel GT to 168/5.
In reply, SRH had a nightmarish start, as the dangerous trio of Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, and Ishan Kishan were dismissed cheaply, and the side was pushed on the back-foot.
With Heinrich Klaasen at the crease, SRH fans still had a glimmer of hope as the middle-order player has been one of the best batters in the tournament. However, he failed to deliver the goods and was sent back for 14 off 16. The others couldn't do much as SRH got bundled out for 86.

How Gujarat Titans can qualify for IPL 2026 playoffs
With this convincing win, the Gujarat Titans have reached the top of the points table. The side has won 8 and lost 4 out of the 12 matches, and has 16 points in their bag.
Normally, 16 points is more than enough to reach the playoffs, but even after beating SRH, GT’s place is not guaranteed. The side has two fixtures remaining, and if they lose both matches, they’ll be stuck at 16 points, and there are several other IPL sides who can still reach the same number of points.
In such a scenario, the net run-rate will come into play, but GT’s net run-rate is positive, and that could help them in the race to reach the playoffs.
Another point would be enough to guarantee them a place in the IPL playoffs, and that means one win out of the two remaining games would take them to the knockouts without worrying about the other results.
GT top performers in IPL 2026
Throughout IPL 2026, several GT players have performed exceedingly well, and as a result, the team sits at the top of the table. Kagiso Rabada, the pacer entered the IPL season on the back of a poor T20 World Cup, but he has been GT’s best player.
In just 12 matches, the South African has scalped 21 wickets, with an economy of 9.15. He gets wickets inside the power play, and also in the death overs as the Titans have won five matches in a row.
Sai Sudharsan, and Shubman Gill have been the top performers with the bat for the side. Sudharsan became the first player to reach the 500-run mark in the ongoing season, and he currently has 501 runs in 12 matches.
On the other hand, Gill is not far behind as the Gujarat Titans captain has hammered 467 runs in 11 matches, with a strike rate of 158.
