The Indian Premier League (IPL 2026) is ready to begin, and the Gujarat Titans are preparing to start their campaign on a strong note. Meanwhile, ahead of the new season, the head coach has given a bold statement for the other teams. Since entering the league in 2022, the team has shown impressive consistency.
As a result, they have reached the playoffs in three out of their first four seasons, and they also won the title in their very first year.
Gujarat Titans aim to strengthen their legacy
At this stage, Gujarat Titans find themselves at an important point. On one hand, they have moved past the early challenges of being a new team. On the other hand, they are still working towards proving themselves as regular title contenders, even after winning their first trophy.
During IPL 2025, they finished in the top four after the league stage. However, they were knocked out in the Eliminator by the Mumbai Indians. As a result, the team is now fully focused on winning their second Indian Premier League title this season.

Speaking at Shubharambh 2026, an event that brought together players and fans, Nehra explained that the team does not plan to change its style of play.
"I do not think there's a need to think differently this season. In fact, I do not have to think, the players do. They have to think. They have to play; I am sitting outside," he said as quoted by a GT press release.

Gujarat Titans maintain winning mindset
Furthermore, Nehra highlighted the mindset that has guided the team since the beginning. "From day one, our mindset has been clear, we are not here to participate, we are here to compete and win. For a new team, it is easy to think it might take time, but that was never our approach."
In addition, he spoke about continuity within the squad. He pointed out that captain Shubman Gill has been part of the team since the start, which adds stability and experience.
"You are talking about a captain (Shubman Gill) who has been with the team from day one and has seen that journey. I don't think we are looking to do anything different this season."
Meanwhile, the tournament will begin on March 28. The opening match will feature Royal Challengers Bengaluru taking on Sunrisers Hyderabad at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
At the same time, Gujarat Titans will begin their campaign with an away match against the Punjab Kings in Mullanpur. Therefore, the team will aim to start strong and build momentum early in the season.
