Devdutt Padikkal bagged the ‘Player of the Series’ award after Sri Lanka procured a fighting draw against India on a thrilling Day 5 of the second Test in Colombo.
Making his return to the national side, the experimental number three composed 328 runs in just three innings with two hundreds, including a match-winning one.
Manav Suthar, meanwhile, emerged as the most successful bowler of the series from either side with 16 wickets in just four innings. Despite Padikkal and Suthar’s heroics, the two cricketers were snubbed by the Indian team management from their dressing room’s ‘unofficial’ Player of the Series memento.
Prasidh Krishna wins Impact Player of the Series
While Devdutt Padikkal bagged the official ‘Player of the Series’ honour, Indian fast bowler Prasidh Krishna won the ‘Impact Player of the Series’ award in the Indian dressing room after the drawn second Test at Colombo.

India’s Performance Analyst Hari Prasad Mohan handed Prasidh the award and stated that the speedster deserved his laurels for the hard work he put in the series.
Upon receiving the award, the 30-year-old Indian paceman thanked his teammates and acknowledged the effort of the support staff as well as that of the team reserves for always assisting the players.

On spin-friendly Sri Lankan surfaces, Prasidh Krishna emerged as the most successful fast bowler of the two-match series from the Indian camp.
The speedster picked up seven wickets in four innings spanning two Tests at a bowling average of 24.57. Krishna even bowled 58.3 overs in the series, the highest among all fast bowlers from either side.
Apart from the obvious stats and numbers, Krishna’s series recognition in the dressing room can be attributed to his hard work and intense training routine, as confirmed by analyst Hari Prasad Mohan.
Working under India head coach Gautam Gambhir, Hari Prasad stated that the 30-year-old fast bowler “made the ball talk and kept asking the right questions to the batters.”

Devdutt Padikkal won the official ‘Player of the Series’ award in the post-match presentation ceremony in Colombo on Thursday, August 27. The elegant left-hander composed 328 runs in three innings at a prolific average of 109.33.
The cricketer scored two hundreds, which included a match-winning epic of 167 in Galle last week in his comeback Test for Team India.
Manav Suthar, on the other hand, skittled Sri Lanka’s batting line-up twice in Galle with match figures of 10-131. He picked up another six in Colombo to conclude the two-match series with 16 wickets to his name from just four innings with a splendid average of 21.06.
Overall, Manav Suthar claimed the highest number of wickets in the series, finishing way higher than second-placed Sri Lanka pace maverick Asitha Fernando.
For Prasidh Krishna, the recognition capped off a disciplined and impactful series, underlining the faith India’s coaching staff continue to place in his ability to make a difference even in challenging conditions.
