Scoring runs against a quality Indian attack is no easy feat, but Sri Lanka’s Sonal Dinusha did the unthinkable, and the batter produced a remarkable performance in the recently concluded two-match Test series at home. His runs not only helped his cause, but also took Sri Lanka out of jail in the second innings.

Just a two-match Test series was enough for the Sri Lankan player to showcase his class against India at the highest level. With a stellar series against India, Dinusha joined an elite list of players, and he now has the fifth-most runs against India in a two-match series.

5) Sonal Dinusha (481 runs)

Before the Test series, Dinusha was an unknown commodity, and he was not perceived as a big threat to India. However, he produced four remarkable knocks to almost single-handedly keep Sri Lanka alive in the series.

He scored twin tons in the second Test match in Colombo and slammed three centuries in just four innings. Moreover, he finished the series as the highest run-getter, with 481 runs, at an average of 96.20.

In 2010, Hashim Amla was at the peak of his powers, and he boasted a stellar Test record against India. In 2010, the South African side toured India for a two-match Test series, and he tormented the Indian bowlers.

In the first Test, Amla slammed a marathon unbeaten 253, and he helped the team win the Test match. The Proteas batter continued the dream run in the second Test as he scored successive centuries and finished the tour with a staggering 490 runs, with an average of 490.

In the first innings of the first Test, Flower scored 183 runs, and it was followed by a gritty 70 in the second innings. In the second Test, the left-handed batter scored 55 in the first innings, but the best was yet to come as he registered 232 in the second innings.

In two matches, Flower ended the series with 540 runs, at an average of 270, including two fifties, a hundred, and a double ton. The current RCB head coach has scored the second most Test runs India in a two-match series.

In the first Test match, Jayasuriya made the Indian bowlers pay for their mistakes as the opener smacked 340 runs and helped his team post 952/6, the highest team total in Tests.

In the second innings of the second Test match in Colombo, Jayasuriya narrowly missed out on a double ton as he scored 199 and ended the series with a whopping 571 runs in just two Tests, with an average of 190.33, and holds the record of most runs scored vs India in a two-match series.
