After a lot of fuss on whether Pakistan players will be picked in The Hundred 2026 auction or not, two of the spinners, Abrar Ahmed and Usman Tariq, were picked by Sunrisers Leeds and Birmingham Phoenix, respectively.
While Abrar became the centre of talk with Kavya Maran co-owned franchise putting up the paddle for him, Usman Tariq was on the safer side, given he was not bought by an IPL franchise-owning team.
The Pakistan Player Ban Fiasco In The Hundred 2026
For the unaware, ahead of Hundred, the four IPL-owned franchises namely Sunrisers, Super Giants, MI London and Southern Brave, almost swirled up reports that they are set to ignore Pakistan players in the March 12 auction but that was not the case.
Under the circumstances of a tough geopolitical tension between India and Pakistan and the recent rift during the T20 World Cup 2026, it seemed like those players will be given the red card from the competition by Indian owners. However, Abrar as well as Usman were roped in by the franchises for a hefty price.

Usman Tariq Bidding War Leads To Hefty Package
The 28-year-old right-arm off-break spinner, infamous for his ‘chucking’ action and dramatic pause during his delivery stride became extremely popular quickly during the T20 World Cup, where he scalped 10 wickets from his 6 appearances. The spinner was taken up in the bid during the Tier 1 spinners and bids flew in for him immediately.
Notably, in the fight between Trent Rockets and Birmingham Phoenix, Tariq was drafted in the longlist for a base price of £100,000 or approximately ₹1.23 crore (INR) and PKR 3.55 crore before getting roped in by the latter team.
Usman Tariq The Hundred 2026 Salary
As per the salary structure of The Hundred, players are set to receive the full amount they were bought for in the auction, and in this case, Tariq will also get the full price he was purchased for.
There was immediate interest in the room after Tariq’s name was called on the auction table. Phoenix started the bid with the base price as Trent Rickets moved in, and after a couple of rounds, Phoenix won the paddle war for £140,000.
Hence, the salary of Usman Tariq in The Hundred 2026 is approximately £140,000 or ₹1.72 crore (INR) or PKR 4.97 crore.
Alongside the fixed salary, Tariq will also be able to earn more if he gets bonus rewards for outstanding performances by winning 'Player of The Match' awards etc.
Usman’s PSL 2026 Salary vs Hundred 2026 Salary
Usman’s rise has been pretty dominant given his bowling action had to suffer a lot of controversy.
Nevertheless, he has been retained for the gem of a spinner the Pakistan cricketer is. Ahead of The Hundred, Tariq was also retained by the PSL franchise Quetta Gladiators for a whopping PKR 5.6 crore, which is approximately 12.68% more than his Hundred salary.
Nevertheless, Birmingham Phoenix will keep a close eye on Usman Tariq, since he was one of their top buys in terms of overseas players.
Phoenix, having a total of 14 players in their squad, will be making regular space for Tariq in the playing XI to utilise him best as a spin option beside Rehan Ahmed.
