After an embarrassing Super 8 exit from the T20 World Cup 2026, Pakistan are preparing to take on Bangladesh in an ODI series. The Men in Green have suffered a massive setback ahead of the series, with injury sidelining veteran batter Fakhar Zaman from the entire tour.

Fakhar Zaman played a pivotal role in Pakistan's consolation win over Sri Lanka in their final Super 8 clash. Although the Men in Green couldn't qualify for the semifinal, Fakhar's blistering knock earned him massive applause from all corners of the world.

Fakhar Zaman to miss Pakistan Vs Bangladesh series due to injury

Despite exhibiting remarkable form in the T20 World Cup 2026, Fakhar Zaman is reported to miss the flight to Bangladesh due to injury. According to a report by Pakistan Observer, the swashbuckling southpaw is struggling with a hamstring injury, which will keep him out of the series.

As the report claims, Fakhar Zaman is currently undergoing rehabilitation and will not be available to feature in the ODI series between Pakistan and Bangladesh.

Fakhar has been prone to injuries of late. The experienced cricketer sustained a knee injury that derailed his Champions Trophy campaign last year. Although he was quick to get back on his feet, fitness concerns repeatedly kept him out of the team, even affecting his on-field performance.

Hailed for his scintillating stroke play, Fakhar Zaman has played 92 ODIs for Pakistan, amassing 3861 runs at an average of 45.4 and a blistering strike rate of 93.2.

The 35-year-old, who starred in Pakistan's historic Champions Trophy 2017 win, could've ensured excellent starts for his side by capitalising on the powerplay field restrictions. Thus, his injury is a significant setback for the visitors as they eye redemption following their premature exit from the T20 World Cup.

Players who can replace Fakhar Zaman in Pakistan ODI squad vs Bangladesh

As Fakhar is a top-order player, the PCB is expected to announce his like-for-like replacement if he fails to recover from the hamstring injury before Pakistan's scheduled departure to Bangladesh.

In such a scenario, Sahibzada Farhan could receive an ODI call-up, having impressed the selectors with his blazing stroke-play in the T20 World Cup.

Sahibzada Farhan shattered record books as he registered the most runs by any player in a single T20 World Cup edition. The Pakistani opener broke Virat Kohli's long-standing record, accumulating 383 runs across six innings at an average of 76.60 and a strike rate of 160.25.

Therefore, if Fakhar misses out, Farhan could emerge as the frontrunner to play the Bangladesh ODIs as his replacement.

Pakistan Vs Bangladesh ODI series in limbo

While both teams fine-tune for a riveting face-off, the Pakistan vs Bangladesh ODI series has been jeopardised by the ongoing war between Iran and the United States.

According to the latest reports, the series may proceed as planned only if the players and support staff from both teams don't suffer security and logistical challenges due to the prevailing geopolitical environment.

As per the schedule announced by the BCB, Pakistan and Bangladesh will face each other in three ODIs from March 11 to 15 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.
