The caravan for Team India now shifts from Belfast, Ireland, to England for the five T20Is and three ODIs. The Men in Blue missed Nitish Kumar Reddy in Ireland as the Shreyas Iyer-led side suffered its first-ever series defeat against the Irish. Notably, Reddy suffered an injury before the UK tour.

For the unversed, Nitish Kumar Reddy suffered a quadriceps injury after the India vs Afghanistan 3rd ODI. The star all-rounder underwent scans, which revealed a minor pull. However, the injury ruled the SRH star out of the Ireland and England T20Is.

Nitish Kumar Reddy Unlikely To Be Fit for England ODIs

In the latest events, India have dealt with another blow because Nitish Kumar Reddy is unlikely to be fit in time for the England ODIs, which begin on July 14. A report from Times of India stated that NKR is still at the CoE and is yet to begin his rehabilitation.

With just 14 days left for the 1st ODI, Nitish will have to prove his fitness to the CoE doctors and join the camp in England, which seems difficult. Further, the report added that the doctors have advised the 23-year-old to take adequate rest.

Nitish Kumar Reddy Likely To Be Back For Zimbabwe Series

Nitish Kumar Reddy is touted to make his return to the Indian team during the Zimbabwe series. Notably, after the England challenge, the Men in Blue will travel to Zimbabwe for a three-match T20I series.

Notably, the selectors are likely to name a second-string side for the African challenge, which allows Nitish Kumar Reddy to challenge his fitness.

Nitish Kumar Reddy's Replacement For England ODIs

So far, the BCCI has not made any comments on Nitish Kumar Reddy, but it seems that Suryansh Shedge will replace him in the ODIs squad as well. Notably, the PBKS all-rounder replaced Reddy for the Ireland and England T20Is.

Since Shedge is already in England, it will be easy for him to replace Nitish Kumar Reddy in the ODIs as well. Also, it is worth noting that Shedge was brought in the team for his performance during India A tri-series in Sri Lanka involving Afghanistan.

Shubman Gill, KL Rahul To Arrive In England Early For ODIs

The same report from Times of India reported that India ODI captain Shubman Gill is all set to arrive early to start his preparation for the all-important ODI series. The players will reach England in batches but Gill alongside KL Rahul will be there early.

Shubman Gill has an important task up his sleeve which is to maintain his solid performance against the Three Lions away from home. Notably, during 2022 England tour, India won the three-match ODI series 2-1. Therefore, the Men in Blue have a golden opportunity.
